This clown went to copy and paste code.

Your portfolio website was" built the frontend with React TypeScript, Sass CSS and deployed on AWS Amplify and serverless backend with NodeJs, ExpressJs, MongoDb, AWS Lambda and AWS API Gateway." Lol. What nonsense. The stupid portfolio site doesn't even have any functionality and links don't go anywhere.

It is rubbish junior devs like this copy and paste clown that have made the job market oversaturated and difficult to get into.

You may have thought that you insulted me but No, I take the positives from your criticism. You have indirectly told me that I should have done it differently and I will look into that.
If you examine other pages aside the homepage, you would see that I collect data of number of people who access the page. The homepage collects the data while other pages display it at the footer. Only the home page counts.

If you have a better way of implementing that functionality without a backend in React, please advice. I know it's possible with NextJs. In fact,I have
rebuilt with Next. Will do the needful soon.

Thanks bro, you criticism has helped me to change one or two things on the page. But to be honest with you. I didn't copy paste code.

You don't have to put up with all these trolls/mad people on Nairaland bro. They are bored and frustrated people, and when you reply them you only give them the attention they're desperately searching for.

Just ignore

Thanks brother. I didn't even feel bad with what she said. Her comments has even helped me do some modifications.
U know stuff like this portfolio thing, when you show it to non-techs, they praise you and you feel on top of the world but when you bring it to fellow Devs, they see your error and possibly help you get better. My purpose of bringing it here is to get constructive criticism not even praise.

Pay no heed or attention to what that dude says, he's just an attention seeking a very frustrated lad. Once he sees something his little brain can't comprehend, or something way above his capabilities, you'd hear him shouting copy and past. Ask him for one of his projects now and you'd see him presenting one mediocre project like that, and you dare not critic him, else he'd insult the living day light out of you.

Okafor David good job. There's always room for improvment.

Here are a few pointers:

1. You can make your typography stand out since your portfolio is based on black background. Bolder texts with catchy words can play you differently. (Play with it if you can)

2. Your picture is absolutely unnecessary... Nobody is interested to see your full body posture unless the picture is a banger. (Suggestion would be to crop out the body part and allow just your head portion... make it bigger and probably add a filter to it via CSS to black and white... just play with the image itself)

3. Your skill can be listed out in a more presentable manner and without the % rating cos honestly... if you're tested on all based on your percentage rating, you'd fail. I know don't ask me how... mistakes of the past cheesy It's obviously points out you're a still grasping on them.

4. Start developing your animation skills... but then you can get creative with AOS (Animate On Scroll) on the pages especially on the portfolio page.

5. Your contact page, your form should have appropriate padding so it is visually appealing... and then, your button is really doing well in hiding when it is the only thing that's supposed to pop out. I know how many times I have clicked on peoples button just to see it's behavior... you'd be surprised the little things people look out for. You can fade out the purple color to a disabled mode rather than hiding it entirely in black.

Overall.. great job bro! Keep moving. You're doing well.

I hope you're fetching your content dynamically. And not having it on a jsx/tsx/md file or even hard coded. Learning that aspect and putting it to practice would improve your skills and you'd learn more while implementing. I'd suggest you go with strapi CMS... it's beginner friendly. If you can sha, store it in your own postgres db or mongodb documents.

Thank you senior man for this. I will work on the point outs. I indeed appreciate.

Aside the visitors counter, the content are not stored in a database. I have them as variables (see attached pics) in a separate file and displayed them by importing and mapping them on the page.
I actually can store in database if I want, I just felt it's not necessary. Do you think it's better to fetch them from the database?

Not necessary is where the problem is... it is very necessary building a habit of doing the hard stuffs.

One thing I'd tell you it does is... it opens another dimension of your engineering skills.
How do you choose between databases, how can you work with different databases, their schema types and all... different jobs have different requirements.
Only a few Nigerians have worked with FaunaDB, DynamoDB and the crazy stuffs and yet remote jobs will hit you with different requirements.

I remember when I was using hasura with postgres.. but then, I realised I didn't even need them if I could just go with mine using nestjs/typeorm or sequalize and building out my own graphql server or RestAPI endpoints. At the end of the day you'll find out you'll learn more as you come at crossroads of choosing the best route to actualize your desired goals... you can simply stick with prisma.

At the end, you get familiar with all these. That's what engineering is all about.
Size of project and techstack to implement. Are you building for scale or just a simple app normal mysql database can handle.

Mix and Match bro!

When you call price for client... you choose to do what you can or simply walk.

These days I'm not even bothering myself much... I just go with sanity Headless cms or wordpress for data. Unless I am expressly instructed to use a particular approach.

Things are easier these days but hard to grasp as the market is coming with new approach of doing same stuff.
