Do you based in Lagos?

Do you have interest in any of those courses?

So I heard too about Aptech, they're quite expensive.
I'd be glad if I get a cheaper alternative that is equally good as as Aptech.

If you live in Ajah, you can go to Kachitech. I think it's 450k. The institute is at Badore.

That means Aptech will be more expensive than this. Then what do they charge in Aptech please? Try learning online too...Udemy, Cousera etc

Do they diversify their courses?

Like to include Cloud Computing and big data?

I think you should focus on CLOUD COMPUTING -->you would be introduced to DevOps -which is basically a cloud service, IoT and BigData is also a cloud computing module.

If you want to focus on remote learning then try udemy it seems cheaper and covers all the topics you mentioned

Note that for cloud computing you would cover topics like IAAS,SAAS,PAS and others

https://www.bmc.com/blogs/saas-vs-paas-vs-iaas-whats-the-difference-and-how-to-choose/

You should probably focus on one of the hyperscalers - AZURE,AWS or google. They all have foundational courses to start with.

You should note that Nigeria would probably see traction in the coming years in terms of datacenters and cloud usage. Right now south Africa is getting the new datacenters.

Since the online courses is cost-effective, I think I should go for it first. At least let me start somewhere.

I would have said you're putting up a challenge on me, but I won't say it cus it doesn't worth responding. Unless Nigerians have not learnt cyber security, that's when I would have been panicking. Writing a code and mastering different programming languages are matters of determination and dedication.

Pro code writers are not on nairaland, so rest

out of curiosity -what is your background and why do you want to do this course --studying cloud computing should technically lead to a job with a hyperscaler (or in a datacenter as a DevOps engineer). Or in a support organization.

You haven't even learned how to write proper English, yet you want to learn Cyber security and DevOps. Lol.

Determination and dedication isn't enough to write efficient code and "master" programming languages. You also have to be naturally intelligent and have an aptitude for logic and critical thinking.

Coding is not easy, and the path you want to follow is one of the hardest. If you have no background in computer science, mathematics or engineering, or you've never written a line of code before, then I suggest you go into poultry farming. This is a better use of your time and energy. Don't go and learn something and then few months later you end up giving up.

A word is enough for the wise.

Seriously, no one's gonna tell OP?

Look OP, the harsh truth about the field you're gonna venture into is no one is gonna hire a Cybersecurity expert or DevOps engineer with only 3 months of training, unless you got years of experience under your belt to show for it.

But if you're determined to learn, forget the noise, no one truly masters a language, and you can pick up math along the way.

Ok, My field is based on Arts and Humanities, which I focus on History and International Studies. I had ambition to proceed for Masters, just like almost of my friends, but I had a second thought. After Masters, wouldn't I be looking for a job which I know will only earn me a meagre salary? That's why I opted for Tech.

I've tried to research on different Tech Skills like UI/UX, Blockchain Technology, Software development, IoT, Data Science, AI and even Product Management. My area of concentration revolves on Cloud. This is the reason I mentioned Cyber Security first. In Cyber Security, it's not that I want to study everything, I want to 'dwell' on Cloud Security, which I was advised to do Cloud Computing to make it more meaningful with a pinch of Big Data (collection of Data).

When people say you can't learn Cyber Security or Cloud Computing in three months. I agree. I want to use Tech to supplement for Masters, which I believe it will be profitable compared to the latter. Therefore, my Tech skillset is a long term journey, not a three months programme.

I know I will have challenges, most importantly, in finance, but man should not run away from challenges especially if it's worthwhile.

You don't need to advise her. Tech Savvy doesn't have time time for Nairaland. I don't know 'her' that why I said, it doesn't worth replying.

You are right on the first two lines. It's because I'm not from the Anglo-Saxon origin, therefore, you don't expect me to write, read nor speak like His Majesty and his subordinates.

"Determination and Dedication isn't enough to write efficient code..." Sit down and ponder on the rubb.ish you typed as an English literate. Who raised you, that you could not differentiate between singular and plural? I knew that you are a product of t0rn c0nd0m, sooner or later, will display your stvpidity here. Yes, coding needs "natural intelligence, aptitude for logic and critical thinking", but do you have any of the listed?

The word "easy" is always relative and has semantic ambiguity based on individual's thought patterns. Few persons that are learning Cyber Security, which I know neither learned computer science nor mathematics. This shows how deluded your brain is.

I've never written a code does not mean I will not. Poultry farming is a lucrative business, and even those that ventured into had given up at a point.

'A word is enough for the wise'. From where comes the Wisdom? I've finally met the first idiotic being this month.

Have you researched the job market, what skillsets are in high demand at the moment. I know in the US cloud is a big deal and some of the skills needed range from DevOps -installing virtual machines, configuration network environments to supporting customer implementations. There is a lot of automation taking place that quickens the implementation process (mostly with scripts).

I would recommended that you investigate the local job market and use that as a leverage.

cloud commuting is definitely the future,we see more customers moving from onprem to datacentres but am not sure there is the volume in Nigeria at the moment unless you plan to work for a foreign company.

True this

At least you got a plan, and ignore those trying to deter you.
Imagine telling you to start a poultry farm when he/she has no idea how expensive and risky it is, known a few who quit and one who lost about 3 mil worth of eggs during the cash scarcity and NIBSS fiasco

You're right. The truth is that most local companies still underpay those that are in Tech. Imagine paying a UI/UX designer the salary of a graphic designer. That's why I said everything boils down to finance. It's only foreign companies that pay better, and even though you want to work remotely, it's hard to get a dream job as a Nigerian unless move to a developing country.
