Debunking the myth that you must know someone to get a job.

Networking is good and it has its advantages but casting it forth as the only way to get a job in Nigeria is not only wrong but evil.

GOD is The Only way to get a job in Nigeria.
The fact that you refuse to go that route or test it, the route of depending on GOD to make a way for you, is nobody's fault.

Believe me, a lot of us do not know "any one" when we apply for jobs and we get it a lot more times we apply for it than we don't.

Not once, not twice not thrice.

We get jobs over and over again even when we don't know someone. In fact that is what is obtainable in Nigeria where your qualifications experience and GOD's grace speaks for you. That's why companies that matter ask you to submit CVs.

And depending on GOD, praying to and asking and thanking HIM for providing us a job is the only way some of us have known to getting jobs.

I remember one of the early, first jobs I got, the Company is so big and has a multinational status kind of structure and ambience that when people realise I work there, they kind of accord me more respect, not knowing I was earning peanuts!
While working there, I remember I had wanted to resign many times, but GOD laid it in my heart to use that period to learn.
It was what I learned on that job that GOD has also blessed and helps use boost my confidence during interviews, that also helps me secure other jobs.

This is the the testimony of a lot of people on this forum and world over; getting jobs by the grace of GOD, without knowing anyone. It is a reality.

Networking is a way of getting jobs but it is not the only way.
GOD is the only way, because if GOD does not bless the people you are networking with to help you, your networking efforts will definitely be in vain.

I can say I know a lot of jobs sites and the most trending jobs in Nigeria on those sites.
I have never come across a vacancy for Economics or an economist
What do you people really do?
Maybe you should include ICAN? I say this because I see a lot of accountant jobs

If there is no funds for ICAN cerificate, have you ever thought about switching career path?
Because for a lot of these Companies recruiting, especially entry level jobs, they just want to know that you have a BSC, the course of study, allot of the time does not matter.

I keep seeing a lot of sales, business development and thousands of IT related skill job vacancies. You may want to switch career path? In the past, which jobs have you been applying for; I just want to understand what you are looking for?

How about Customer service? They don't earn much: 80k-120k, but it is a means of entry into the corporate world.

Trust me a lot of us used customer service as an entry.

Well, I will keep you in mind, if I see something nice:
What year did you finish?
What other skill do you have both natural and acquired ?

And learn to pray, not just a prayer of desperation and frustration but a prayer of thanksgiving. Thank GOD for the job that you are yet to have because you will have it by HIS grace. Give thanks.
Don't ask when. Just gives thanks as long as HE enables you too.

Be like Jacob who said, "I will never let YOU go, unless YOU bless me".
Don't stop giving thanks for your new job till you win because we always win in CHRIST JESUS.

I do see a lot of Abuja jobs, maybe I will share them here.

Okay, I am just trying to understand you more, sorry I won't be able to send you a mail.

Are you entry level or you have some experience in the feild?
It is just a tip, when you ask people online for job opportunities, you need to be able to share where you are at: zero experience or experienced, if experienced; what have you done before and how many years.

Why? Because that is how job vacancy are structured.

A job vacancy would tell you we need zero years of experience, or one year of experience or more years and they would also tell you if they would be biased towards some skills.

So if you tell us: any one, it doesn't help people who are reading these posts, who want to reach out to you and help you help you.

You get me?

You don't need to be specific about where you have worked, but you could be general about it.

For example, I have a B.sc in Economics and zero work experience, I would like to work in a bank as a teller, or as accountant but I am really open to any entry level opportunity be it customer service, sales, admin assistant etc.

If you have experience,
I have a Bsc in Economics and have worked in Hospitality, restaurants etc before.
It gives people a better direction on how they can come in and help.

Anyways, from my little understanding of what you have written, you finished school recently and would not mind entry level jobs plus other opportunities?

@Tradegood. Are you on whatsapp? Let's chat and pray and strengthen our faith. We both have the same mindset.

I believe every Christian is blessed and already favored. The seeming struggle is how to manifest this favour in our experience.

However we have it already because God says so and hence, we should not waste time but praise and thank him as faithfuls who live by what God has said and not by outward appearances which are subject to change.

The problem is not how to or when the job would arrive. It's how long can you go on denying what your senses or feelings are saying and rejoicing in what God has said. This is what births the manifestation and is termed, "fully persuaded" stage.

I myself I'm in need of a good job and know the temptations to deviate from faith to sight. But God is faithful. And the whole world is held by the power of His words. If one of His Word fails the whole universe would crash-- an impossibility.

Living by faith is life.

Okay, if you are a job seeker, join me and let us pray:
Heavenly FATHER, I give you praise, I give YOU thanks. Thank YOU for how far you have brought be through life and how far YOU are willing to take me.
FATHER I thank YOU because YOU are good FATHER.
YOU love me and are more than willing to take care of me.

FATHER in Heaven, I come before YOUR throne of mercy and grace, and ask for mercy and forgiveness for shutting YOU out and trying to do this all on my own.
Please forgive me. Forgive me my trespasses in JESUS name.

Help me LORD, I need YOU. I need YOUR help, I need YOU in my life. I need YOUR favour to get a job and I thank YOU because I will get a job.

Thank YOU LORD for making a way for me where there is no way.
Thank YOU LORD for causing the light of YOUR countenance to shine on my CV and on me during job interviews.
Thank YOU LORD for YOUR favour upon me and all my ways in JESUS name. amen.
Thank YOU LORD for giving me a job, I am so grateful LORD, thank YOU in JESUS name.

Just thank GOD for your job.
Praise GOD for your new job.
Everyday.

Before you draft your CV, you need to learn to ask GOD to guide you.
Before you draft your cover letter, you need to learn to ask GOD to guide you.
Before you submit your CV, you need to learn to ask GOD to take control.

And when you ask GOD, you need to understand that HE hears you and has answered you.
Yoi thank HIM!

Thank YOU JESUS for my new job, I am grateful DADDY. It is YOUR doing and it is marvelous in my sight. Thank YOU LORD.

There are ways that can always help you get a job,
After your BSC,
find out the hottest selling jobs in the Nigerian market.

You are going to position yourself to get one.

How?
You are going to educate yourself accordingly to get one!

For example, incase you are not aware, Graphics Designing is hot in the Nigeria job space and it doesn't require much.
If you are already creative naturally or artistic naturally, you will do well here.

So what do you do?

Even though you have BSc linguistics?

The answer is simple: you must acquire the graphic design skill!
It is compulsory.

How do you know what skill to acquire in this regard?
It is simple.

Look for a Graphic design vacancy by a good company and check what skills they are asking for.
E.g I know they always ask for Adobe design skill.
Some go on to ask for very many other skills but trust me Adobe design skill already sets you ahead by 70%.

So what do you do?

You give your self a month or two or more or less to acquire that skill.
Visit YouTube for free tutorials (Pray for GOD's guidance before you start searching)

Start learning.

But the Graphics Design job sphere is kind of competitive.

How do you reduce competition?

By upgrading your skill a notch higher.

Animations.

As soon as you announce and show us proofs of your animations works, you will be snatched up quickly never to be found in the job market.

By animations, I mean, those cartoon looking images that talk and move!

Graphics design is just an example.

Sales skills is the fastest selling and the most fluid skill I have ever come across in the Nigeria job market.

And I have ever only met one person who says he enjoys sales and he was acting so dreamy as he talked about how he loved to walk up to people to sell something to them.

If you can convince people, who are showing serious interest in a product, to buy it already and they do, you will do well in sales.

Sales is hot. Super hot.
There are always sales vacancy.!

Yes.
There are schools that pay teachers upwards of N150k and as high as N250k+ in Lagos.

But they are not moimoi schools, as per, you don't get employed there just because you have an NCE.

They require some what I call, "special teaching certificates"
You will get those certificates.
and it is not hard to get them

(I presume you hate teaching because the salary is small? Like if your present employer were paying you N500k as net salary for example to teach, would you still hate the teaching?)

Have you heard of the word, Montessori?

These schools that I talk about, there are some certificate or skills they always ask for, I will look for it and get it for you.

All you need do is suffer for 6 months more or almost one year more to acquire that skill.

Next, I will like to ask, what do you really like? Since you don't like teaching?
Like, if GOD gives you a blank cheque and says, any job you want now, I will give you now. What job would that be?

I ask since you don't like teaching?
