I just got two jobs:
1. Federal Hospital Job - ₦95,000 monthly
2. General Manager of a subsidiary of a big pharmaceutical company - ₦500,000 monthly.

I have been out of job for 2yrs before these employments, I have really suffered that in those 2years, where my family have disowned cos I have been so poor and hopeless.

Now I want to make the right choice, which job should I pick cos I'm also thinking of japa very soon

Take the one with the biggest pay since you don't want a long term project in Nigeria.. As I been don choose Federal Job, I don make up my mind say na long term project I go do for Nigeria and I Must Reach the Echelon of My Career in Good Health,

For them to even call you for interview mean say you have been employed already. Interview for federal job na just to fulfill all righteousness. Because they hardly put federal job vacancy on advert. Which means for you to be called for interview then you know principal officer in that institution

Your offer of temporary appointment letter will come with ease
Followed by regularisation letter
Then confirmation letter ( once those three letters arrive ehnnnnn. My son you be chairman)
You will get your promotion every three years with ease
Annual leave is sure
No body will ever threaten you with sack.
Federal Staff are migrating into integrated payroll system so your salary will be complete without any deductions from Union
Infact you will be growing academically
Because you can further your education. By applying for study leave with pay or no pay
Your hazard allowance na bomb

Then the institution go dey upgrade you
And you go dey request for conversion from one department to another as you wish, if you really be the serious type then you can build your house in 4-6yrs

The career dilemma...

Many years ago I was where you are now.

I took the road less traveled. I settled for a career in Nigeria.

I got a job in a Big 4. Then moved on to an FMCG, where the perks are much higher!

On education, I got chartered, and I'm finishing an MBA.

On family, I got married to my best friend from University, and I just made my first baby.

Do I regret not moving to the US to join my mom, a US citizen?

I do. Every. Single. Minute.

Why? Nigeria is a very uncertain place to stay and thrive. You could be up there in the sky today and the next week you're back on the mud. In a country of many poor people, you run the risk of becoming a victim of crime due to envy...post COVID-19 it'll get worse.

Look at you at 30. You're dithering. You're pussyfooting.

Look at me at 28. I still regret the mistake my 25 year old self made. I'm pushing daily to leave Nigeria.

I want to leave, not because I'm broke in Nigeria, but the collective poverty in this country scares me...

Most crimes committed today are more out of envy and hunger than of greed.

I no dey whine you, it's the truth... I have both offer of employment as I dey. I am 41yrs old married with kids but lost my job about 2-3yrs ago ran into debts and many financial problems. So I have been living a terrible life with children until God now gave me these two offers. But I just want to get things right this time, I can't afford to make any mistake this time

You are thinking of japa and u want to collect 95k job. Stay there and be dreaming.
You better collect that #500k and have a good work experience. What type of work do u want to be doing in hospital that they want to pay you 95k with the implementation of 30k hazard allowance. You salary suppose pass 95k if you are starting with level 8

For a federal Government job as medical worker, no matter your other qualifications they will start with you from level 7 and the pay is 95k monthly. I understand your point anyway about japa but I'm just scared of job security in private sector ( I can just be sacked after 2 months for whatever flimsy excuse) knowing I have been at home for 2 years without job

Take the #500k job.
Are you kidding? You want to leave salary that can pay your other job five months and still get change.
Even if you save #200k for a year, that's #1.4m which can start a side Hussle and give you something monthly.

Boss, in as much as I like federal government job because of the job security, I would advice you take the 500k job, since you have been out of job for like 2years, and uou go don broke gan.....

At least in 2month from that 500k job, you will save like 600k, if you are not a big spender...

But please make sure you make your research well, before you take that 500k job, because one man business, their name is sack and hire.

Federal job will never make you rich, u might struggle at the end. Left to me I suggest you take the private job and save aggressively. To enable you japa as quickly as possible.

Go for the 500k job with futuristic plan, the money can speed up your dreams, I believe for you to earn so well, you have good pedigree, go for the highest, life is a risk, taking the govt job is synonymous to having AC in the oven
