Tinubu's Administration: A New Dawn Or A Darker Future? by sleeknike: 1:58pm On Jun 02, 2023
On May 29, 2023, a new government came to power. I was watching the Swearing In ceremony on TV, and I felt this cloud of emotions coming over me. It was a mixed feeling of skepticism and indifference.

On the one hand, I was eager to find out what the new government would bring to the good people of Nigeria. On the other hand, I felt like it didn't concern me; whatever comes out, we all go through it.

Well, the latter feeling faded yesterday morning when on my way to work, I decided to get some fuel for the car and the first shocker was the LOOONG QUEUE. When it finally got to my turn I realized that 20 liters that I used to get around ₦3,000 is now ₦12,000.

That was when I saw the pump price, and my eyes popped; ₦600 per liter? When did that one happen? I bought fuel 3 days ago, and it was just ₦240; when did this hike happen? And then I remembered that a new government assumed office yesterday.

President Ahmed Bola Tinubu talked about removing fuel subsidies, and yes, he has. Yesterday during the swearing-in ceremony, he listed his leadership agenda to tackle insecurity, improving the Economy, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Monetary Policy, and Foreign Policy.

This is the effect of the subsidy removal. We are now buying fuel for ×3 the price, wow! What an improvement. It's just a day after his inauguration, and power already costs more than engine parts. Who knows what will happen next?

What I don't understand is exactly why he removed the subsidy and what he tends to achieve with it. We all know how these politicians make promises and fail. We may buy fuel for this outrageous price without any explanation.

This fuel subsidy removal is already affecting Nigerians negatively. What positive impact has his one day in office brought? At least Nigerians would have gotten a free cable subscription for one month or even 1GB data to show that he means good.

In fact, it makes me wonder if there's any truth in the rest of the agenda he listed. Will the fuel subsidy removal help achieve the rest of the government agenda? Or are they just mere promises? Anyways, let us see where this is leading us; not the hard way, I hope.

Fellow Nigerians, brace yourself. The tide is coming. You survived the past administration, but I don't know if this will improve or worsen. So work on your abilities and focus on being independent. That is the only way out. After all, "Idan no dey look for work, na work dey find Idan '' Be an Idan today.

This had to be done. We will never progress with subsidies. N443 billion was bugeted for fuel subsidy 2023, thats just 6 months, how can we continue like that. You can take away subsidy using another subsidym, it doesnt make any economical sense
Is it going to be hard, yes! but we will survive this and hopefully the monies would be used for viable projects that will benefit all.

i am an obi ardent supporter..so far all tinibu's moves at govenance has been spot on...from.his appointments to his different policy framework...even obi cannot do more that that...

my inly stand is that he stole the mandate, doing good with the mandate stolen will det bad precedent for the country

People who doesn't support subsidy removal are only interested in kicking the can forward so the country can eventually go bankrupt and when that happens guess who is going to be blamed for it.

Nigerians are the biggest cowards in the world. They know all the names and the positions occupied by those who made the country bankrupt.

A dark future for Obi-diot, and Atiku.
A new dawn of renewed hope for Nigerians.
