NEW BORN BABIES! Are U A New Mum? Then Lets Discuss Babies Here!!!!! by ayobarmy(m): 12:14pm On Jun 22, 2012
There is no thought that babies are indeed bundle of joy, but sometime we mothers/fathers face so many challenges raising our kids, so i want us to use this avenue to discuss any issue concerning them(our kids) here!!!!!! For example, my 8weeks old boy sleeps only 6 hours @ night but seems to enjoy more time sleeping during the day, but i must confess am not too happy about it at all, but what every1 is saying its normal.......... Nairalanders Is this normal?

Ayobarmy, there is no cause for concern with your LO sleeping on his chest, it helps them sleep longer from my eperience. Enjoy your Lo now while he is still small, cute and so cuddly; they grow so fast!

Many babies indeed sleep best in this position. I dont see any harm with it, nor have i heard of anything bad coming of it either. Let him sleep how he wishes...he will sleep his best that way, sure u are a worried first time dad , thast normal...congrats on the new arrival and enjoy everything smiley cheesy

Ayobarmy again from experience low bosom milk could be as a result of the mother either not eating well or resting properly. What helped me was watery pap with milk as well as kunu. Hope that helps, cheers.

Ednutey, I do not know about you but for me palm wine actually dried me up. Yes, I lactated better for a few days but got dry again. I immediately stopped the wine and continued with my pap and kunu.

Try to avoid ur baby sleeping on his chest till he has learnt good head control and can remove his head if he is not getting enough air.

Google SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome).

As a father, who loves seeing my kids grow no matter my official commitment, have observed that babies comes with different kinds of behaviors in terms of growth. They have different time frame. some can sleep for about 1hr and get up, stay for about 30 mins, and go to sleep again. When mothers, tend to take food at anytime when they are sleeping, they wake up and also give signs to say, I need food. Some cry intermittently just for no reason and the mother must be awake. Some prefer to sleep during the day and keep awake during the night but some tend to sleep during the night and keep awake during the day. Some prefer just what I may call short rest.
Like my first boy, he never gave anyone any problem. If you brea-st feed him and he sleeps, he does not wake up till the normal adult time. Like when he was born, you brea-st feed him around 7 pm in the night and he sleeps, he will only wake up 4am or 6am in the morning. Same in the afternoon. When the 2nd one came, he was like the crying type and would want to be fed almost every 2 hrs and he will follow up crying for no reason.
In terms of a baby sleeping with his/her chest facing down, it is always good to position them in different positions and also have to be turning the child either sideways or with the child facing up. Nothing wrong with that. If you keep allowing the baby sleep with only one side, it will affect the posture 0f that baby when the baby grows up. either the shape of the head or something like that.

For those mothers that are experiencing low milk count I advice you take a lot of Moringa leaf powder. It worked for my wife when we had our first child and now that we are expecting our second very soon I have placed her on moringa leaf powder. You can google it and see for yourself.I get mine from a cooperative society in Makurdi.

Our baby girl is almost 11 months old, but she still sticks her tongue out of her mouth always shocked People have advised us to use mouth suckers but our doctor discourages their use on the ground that they are veritable breeding grounds for bacteria. Does anyone have a similar experience?

My 4-month old still sticks her tongue out oh! Infact she sucks her hand and her feet too. I just don't know what to do with her.

But I love the way she sleeps - Early to bed, early to rise. No midnight tantrums! Ahhh . . . she's my pride and joy!

lemmie chip in a bit

Stress can affect the milk supply so if ou are a new mummy please learn to relax and eat well.Tak e plenty of fluids like chocolate milk and avoid coffee.

Do not overwork because that too brings about stress.

If your mind is at peace and you are eating well then you will have abundant milk. smiley

Castos, pls stop using sucker 4 ur baby@Ayobarmy,hs ur wife tried pap, kunu & palm wine?is she bursty?cos some women dat r bursty, their bosom dnt flow well.

I second that. From what I know and have seen big bust doesnt translate to lots of milk if anything its viceversa because the breasts are usually fatty.
Seen women with pea shaped breasts produce milk like a fresian cow while big busted sweat to squeeze.

Newborn babies shud sleep on their backs not stomachdown at least for the first threemonths, this prevents SID(sudden infant death syndrome)

As for suckers or dummies, its not recommended cos of the high incidence of germs, even feeding bottles are no longer recommended, wen I was to introduc formular to my son,I was adviced to sppoonfeed him, wich I did,hez sixmnths old now,and eats lik a pro cheesy
