A big fat lie. Earnings alone do not define poverty. If you're earning that amount and living in Nigeria, you can afford bits of luxury here and there. The person in the States earning such amount will definitely have more expenses than you. What matters most is what's left after you must have covered your needs.

Rent is expensive in the US and UK than Nigeria
While food, internet and other basic things (aside accommodation) are cheaper there than Nigeria. My take
