Hi House,

For someone who's working in central London (Zone 1). What's the most cost-effective place to live currently?
I know there's a lot of options but here are some factors to consider:
- 3 days onsite / 2 days remote
- Safe family oriented area
- 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom ideally (new build preferably)
- willingness to travel approx. 1hr to work. (2hrs to/fro)

Some areas being considered;
- Reading (benefiting from new Elizabeth line)
- Maidenhead
- St Neots
- Luton
- Watford etc.

I have already done some research but looking for more "qualitative" inputs based on personal experience.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
You should also consider Milton Keynes.

Thanks for this.

I just downloaded the app and filled the form...but see the response I got. I'm in the West Midlands area.

Thank you for your interest
We are not currently onboarding delivery partners in your area. Amazon Flex onboards additional delivery partners periodically, especially ahead of our busy summer and winter months. You’re on the waiting list and we will email you when we are looking for more delivery partners in your area.

What areas are they onboarding delivery partners if you know?
I think amazon as a company aren't bringing drivers onboard, but they saddle the responsibilities on Partner Delivery Service Providers......
The one I know of is around Humberside/Yorkshire.
MDSL by name, they and others are currently recruiting for that region, but I'm sure there will be one close to your region, Doncaster maybe(I'm not familiar with them regions).

You get the van, mobile phone and fuel card, all you just need is your driving skills.(somebody got to deliver those increasing high demand of parcels you know)

You didn’t mention your budget. In addition to other suggestions, you might also want to consider East London and Essex towns on the C2C line. Barking, Dagenham, Rainham, Purfleet, Grays Tilbury, South Ockendon, Chafford hundred, Aveley, Basildon etc. You should get an apartment to your spec for £1.1 to £1.3 per month in some of these areas. Travel time to central London is 35 mins on this line from Grays of course excluding. time from your house to the train station.

Thamesmead, Erith, Dartford, Gravesend, Greenhithe, SevenOaks are also very good options in Kent with good transport links into central London.

Lastly, if you have kids you’ll want to also consider an area with good schools more strongly than your transit time.

@ugoonuoha There are a lot of new builds around the strood/rochester/chatham area of Kent going for around 1k - 1k4 (2bed). The commute time is between 37 -45 mins to central london.

I don't know where you're based. But what I posted is the rules in Scotland

Its so bad that 12months minimum or 6 months minimum tenancy agreement is illegal. Tenants are on a monthly rolling contract.

I use a letting agent, so they adhere strictly to the legal framework.

Evening big boss. Seems you have knowledge about Mortgage. I have a friend who took mortgage,£1.51 for every £1 borrowed 3.4% APR, the one I was offered is £2.04 for every £1 borrowed. If man pikin dey pay twice of loan, wen person go come get time to rest oooo.

Please help me, how can I get earlier dates for my driving pratical test? The dates available are in February 2023.

you need to book first on the gov.uk website with any date available, then use any of the apps ( driving test cancellations or Testi driving test cancellation) to get a closer dates. Ensure you have a driving instructor that is willing to take you for the driving test in the shortest notice if you get a closer booking date from any of the apps. Cheers!

Towing the line of -screenshoting' as admonished by @Lexusgs430
Discourse on freehold and leasehold around page 359

Just pointing to the following:
[1] Source www.gov.uk/leasehold-property
You only own a leasehold property for a fixed period of time. (different from freehold or technically 999yrs lease)
Ownership of the property returns to the landlord when the lease comes to an end.
[2] Source https://hoa.org.uk/advice/guides-for-homeowners/i-am-buying/leasehold-v-freehold-whats-the-difference
There are two fundamentally different forms of legal ownership: freehold and leasehold. Although estate agents tend to gloss over it, it can be the difference between a home that is worth buying and one that isn’t. ...

Difficult. Are you on a work or student visa? What can you afford and are you willing to pay 3-6 months rent in advance?
Do you have anyone in Manchester that can start viewing houses for you before you arrive?
All those will determine how soon you can get a place.

Testi is free and you can put only one prefer test location if you don't want to pay. Download it. The one posted is not free and you have to pay 17.79P to activate it. I don't know if its free on android but not free on iPhone sha

This oppression is too much oooo. How can one family be so privileged like that . If Harry knows what is good for him, he better make amends and go back.....

See my slaving here and taxed to the max and anything I leave for my kids will still be taxed( double tax) . Yet one rule for us another for one family. How can that not be oppression. Lol

Book the test for February 2023 and keep checking for earlier dates. For one of the bookings I made a few weeks ago, it was initially a Feb 2023 date at a far-away centre. Kept checking and was eventually able to get another date in Nov, then Oct and then Sept a week before the test date. So keep checking - new dates are released at 6am every Monday; mostly dates 5-6 months in the future but a few are within 3 months. On other days and at random times, closer dates are released.
You can also use the "Driving test now" (costs £17.99) or "Testi" (costs £5-7) apps. These apps brought cancellation notifications but were mostly unable to book. Driving test now will refund you if you aren't able to find and book an earlier date with their app.

Good Afternoon

Please, I need an advice on this issue.

I'll be travelling to the UK with my family, my husband and daughter. Initially, we applied for a 2 year course to buy time since I'll go first and they'll come join me later, like after 1 year or less. To avoid any form of issues around their visa applications when they're eventually ready, we decided to process all our visas together. Then we all travel together for like a month so they can get their BRPs and then travel back to Nigeria.

Now, we're thinking, is there still a need for a 2 year course? Again, the fact that they are not physically here, will it affect anything in anyway? Like, when we want to apply for PSWV, will this cause any issue? They'll definitely come over before the end of my course, but I'll be close to finishing.

Please, I want to be certain before we take any step in that regard. has anyone gone through anything similar?

The thing I'm enjoying now is watching BBC and seeing the King of England driving in a small 3 car convoy along the road I used to follow from Uxbridge to central London. Outriders clearing the road smoothly, moving in and out, the convoy passing ordinary traffic in other lanes as usual, of course the aerial, ground and other security must be tight and all that, but ordinary motorists are barely affected.

On the other hand, if any of those bloody wankers in power in Naija were to be passing somewhere...

When I checked the price of houses in Leicester, I gave up. Then used mortgage calculator to check and saw that I may be paying about £1500 monthly as mortgage.

Meanwhile I dey use ear hear say people dey pay £400, £500 as mortgage.
