Ladies and gents...

Gone are those days when medical science, pharmacy, law and accounting were the most successful and lucrative courses to study.

ICT, telecoms, infotech and CSC have taken over.

Gone are the days when literacy meant who can read or write.. now a literate person is he who is very inclined with technology.

In the nearest years the world won't be led by the rich and Mighty anymore but by technocrats and IT experts.

The words professor, doctor, esquire, his excellency will all be obsolete in a few years to come.

Do you know that customers can now produce their ATM cards without entering the banks? Do you know that in the nearest years banks won't exist in buildings again but just on the internet

Do you know that I can help you monitor your spouse's social media messages (Whatsapps, phonecalls and even Facebook) messages and get them delivered directly to your own phones

I am @ zero eight one one three 077 one 67

The world is now a digital global village.
Too many lies and misconceptions in your write-up. Professors and doctors can never go extinct or obsolete. Except if you think that a robot will be made quite soon that will replace doctors.

600 dollars just to get internet , 20k per month to subcribe grin

Starlinks isn't the first broadband internet service provider in Nigeria. Like there are many and even with their cheap subcription, they still find it hard to get customers.

Btw, MTN will beat starlinks in terms of affordability, mobility, accessibility and sometimes speed.

Starlink on the other hand seems like a service targetted to commercial entities
Hahahaha you don't get it, do you ?
Starlink is UNLIMITED and you can connect up to 128 devices including smart TVs at the same time.
At 20k a month its cheap because I spend over 10k on weekends alone streaming football matches on Airtel.

it's not for u as an individual......it benefits companies (that spend hundreds of thousands of nairas for monthly data subscription) more as it helps them reduce the cost significantly
Its 19k a month, individuals spend far more than that on data, I spend over 10k on Saturdays and another 10k on Sundays alone to stream matches on my Smart TV with Airtel data.

Starlinks hasn't been tested in the remotest villages in Nigeria but Mtn works in some remote villages in Nigeria.

Starlinks just using marketing to deceive you.

Btw, how many villagers can afford starlinks but most villagers can afford mtn mobile internet data
One Starlink sub can serve 128 devices including smart TVs, can you say the same for MTN ?

See proof oga.

If they have the tech at all, why are they not first to market with the product in Nigeria?

The DSTV internet in SA is fixed wirelsss with a sim card and not unlimited. Nothing like Satellite technology to deploy it.

You claim lot of people are using starlinks in a remote village in niger state. But i only see one man that is a dev Showing off his starlinks in niger state.

Btw, in some areas, you will get 100Mbps with MTN’s HyNetflex, infact mtn 5G beats starlinks by far.

Btw, for dstv internet is not fiber but wireless broadband

If it can connect to 128 devices, that means speed will reduce. 128 devices wont be able to get the same as when 1 or 2 devices are on the same network

MTN hynetflex is capped that's why I dumped it, do you know how much I spend on MTN sub monthly ?
I spent over 80k monthly on data for me and my wife, and also DSTV sub.
But with 20k monthly sub for Starlink I can connect my neighbours, friends, my kids and still stream visuals on my smart TVs 24/7 .

Don't compare whatever MTN has to offer to Starlink at all.

It can connect to 128 devices doesn't mean 128 devices will be connected at a time, and no one has complained of speed reduction in the 46 countries where they have been enjoying the service long before it's launch in Nigeria.

Upload proof of a REMOTE location where the network speed of MTN can reach 50Mbps. You're just hell bent on your ideology. Say na MTN beat starlink by far. You could have used affordability to prove your point sef. Even me that's not a heavy user, I spend 10k+ every month on data now even though I no longer stream football matches on weekends again to save money.

The argument was about connecting 1 starlinks modern to 128 devices.. the point i am making is, if 128 devices are connected to one modern, the speed will drastically reduce..

You guys act like starlink is magical and that network congestion, weather, slow speed and disconnect does not affect the system.

Starlinks is capped at 1T, once you exhaust that, the speed falls, it is in their FUP. Yeah the sub is cheap but the installation is expensive.

It costs way more than that. Those figures are from official dollar rate which doesn't work in Nigeria. You pay in dollars, not Naira

Now this. What about 5g? Me thinks we should just stick to 4g and let the oyinbos run their 'craze' for the mean time. So many other things we can use our time on. When they reach a suitable foothold, we can conveniently catch up. I don't see where we can contribute in the development any way.

I wasn't the guy that quoted you on spending 10k every weekend on streaming football matches. Read my reply again, I've stopped streaming football matches live for a while now so as to save money. The electricity supply is epileptic, fuel is scarce etc. So subscribing monthly right now is a huge waste of money when I won't even watch anything apart from football matches on the said DStv and there's an epileptic electricity supply and fuel is scarce. Football viewing centre is where I go to watch matches now with just #200.
Re: Fisayo Fosudo Test-Runs SpaceX's Starlink (Video) by dustmalik: 10:36am On Feb 04, 2023
Starlink pricing is misleading.

The hardware price that is quoted to be 268k, is actually $587 when trying to pay for it on the website, which the equivalent in Naira is about N450k with the prevailing black market exchange rate. You can't use Naira Mastercard/Visa to pay. You must use a dollar denominated card.

The monthly subscription is also not correct. The actual fee is about 30k.

This isn't affordable for most people.
