How do you cope which you have to submit your phone before resuming back to work,i currently worked where i had to submit my phone before resuming and I don't feel comfortable about it what if i had an emergency calls to attend to I think everybody has same experience to share on it here
Is your phone more important than making money to pay your bills? Is this your first job in life? What is new about that?

I thought as much... It's a hospitality business... It's not that you are submitting your phone.. It's Heath and safety procedures.. ( keep your phone in locker rooms) during break time u take it.. After break, u put it away...

Using phones are not required in the kitchen so u don't need them....Some doesn't even allow wedding rings, wrist watches, earrings etc... Those might find their ways into the customer's food... And the company doesn't want to take those chances to avoid court cases..

Those that suffer such a policy are usually the low cadre staff..... The managers walk in with their phones.

They will give you an emergency calls number for people to reach you in such cases. You have to prioritize what is most important to you at every stage of your life and keep moving.

Keep this in mind, "Nigeria is a place where someone with zero consistent income will be advising someone with a job that his salary is too small." Success comes when preparation meets opportunity, and opportunities come with positioning especially when you move.

It's not nice but truth be told the company owns your time during the hours of work because that's what they are paying you for. If you've worked in a section where you can't take your phone to, and you're going to be there for 10 - 12hours? What you gonna do?

It also depends on the job! In some industry, your phone, electrical gadgets, metals etc are a no no because it could be disastrous having them with you.

Outside Nigeria like UK you will get punished if not outright sack if you are caught using your phone during work hours. Things like this only happen in Nigeria without caution one major reason customer service is poor.

Its definitely a wear house or factory related jobs, they're all over here in the state, some even have personal lockers for individual staff to keep their personal effects before resumption.

Be your own boss to avoid those unpleasant experiences.

A customer came to the bank to withdraw some amount. And while the cashier was arranging the cash for the customer the cashier got a phone call and he picked and told the person to call back later.
Few minutes after the customer left the bank he was attacked by armed robbers and shot dead. Police came and started investigating and then the man that followed the man told the police that the cashier received a call and that he suspect that the cashier was the one communicating with armed robbers.
To cut the story shot the guy was accused of the crime. But luckily his he was released after enough beatings.
