Kingosytex: IF YOU KNEW ONE-TENTH OF YOUR AFRICAN HISTORY, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THESE COLONIALISTS DESTROYED AND BURNED DOWN NUMEROUS AFRICAN CITIES AND MONUMENTS SHOWING THE HIGH CIVILISATION OF OUR ANCESTORS. THE GREAT BENIN CITY THEY DESTROYED IN 1897 WAS DESCRIBED BY EUROPEAN VISITORS AS BEING AMONG THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CITIES ON EARTH, AS FAR BACK AS THE 15TH CENTURY, WITH LARGE MULTI STOREY PUBLIC BUILDINGS, MONUMENTS, AND STREETLIGHTS. SO STOP WORSHIPING THE PEOPLE WHO DESTROYED YOUR OWN HISTORY. 12 Likes 1 Share |

Napata77: The bolded was not my aim. In fact, I intended achieving the exact opposite. I wanted to point out how they've preserved their culture while working tirelessly in their efforts to wipe out everyone else's. You sounded polite this time, why didn't resort to your normal insults and stuffs like that? 2 Likes 1 Share |

This is only possible if you actually have a history and culture worth preserving. Primitive, barbaric African culture was never worth preservation which is why it continues to be a source of shame and embarrassment. Kingosytex: 1 Like |

That person up there shouting about preservation of history is getting it all wrong. What's worth preserving about thatched and mud houses built in the 1800s?? If the street captured above had contained mud houses, the British would have pulled it down and erect a befitting structure in its place. Are you proud of some parts of Ibadan with rusted roofs as it's today - a state capital for that matter?? |

Wainey: Are the WALLS OF BENIN not part of your history? Have you even HEARD of it? Are the EREDO EARTHWORKS, the largest man - made structure on EARTH, not in your backyard in Ijebu Ode, ignored by successive governments? Have you even HEARD about them? The only 'HISTORY' you blasted SLAVES love to ''preserve'' is the history of the colonial murderers of your ancestors. |

RenaissanceGuy: This is a reconstruction of the 600 YEAR old palace of the Oba of Benin before it was destroyed in1897 by British troops. It is based on Benin Ikun or courtyard architecture. This picture is actually small, because the palace had 207 IKUNS (COURTYARDS), whereas we see just 30 or so Ikuns represented by the artist here. To show you how massive it was. . Here we find a 16th century rendition of the City of Benin by Dutch visitor Olfert Dapper, showing large residences and public buildings. .............. SO CAN YOU SEE YOU SEE YOU ARE STUPID AND IGNORANT ABOUT YOUR AFRICAN HISTORY? 1 Like |
