@op. First of all, there is no 100% guarantee in life. Not everyone who migrates or don't migrate abroad will be successful. Have this at the back of your mind. Life itself is a risk. Let me tell you about my own philosophy. I subscribe to the view that the first 30 years of your life is yours. Enjoy every bit of it, you can think about yourself alone, you can be selfish and take decisions that benefit you and you alone. If you want to explore in sambisa, do it, it's all yours After 30 years of age with kids coming or about to come, your life is no longer yours alone. You should dedicate your life to your next generation, your kids. At this point, your decision in anything you do should be based on first how it benefits your kids or future kids before yourself. If it benefits you but not your kids, I'll say no but if it benefits my kids and not me, I'll say yes. While you were greedy and selfish before 30, this stage requires you to be selfless and be ready to be a sacrificial lamb and allow your family to be greedy. This is my own philosophy that guides me, anyone can have a different philosophy. This philosophy helped me make decision years ago about migrating. I asked myself, how do I ensure my children are better positioned with more opportunities when they grow up especially in today's uncertain times? After some research, I came to the conclusion that giving them the opportunity to become global citizens will give them more and better options down the road. They won't be restricted to just Nigeria, they will have options in other countries as well. Since I didn't give birth to them abroad, the only option was to relocate. Because I had the money and opportunity to migrate LEGALLY, I took the chance. I wouldn't have done that if there was no legal way to do that even with my desires. I discourage illegal immigration, it is not worth it. I had no reason to migrate cos I was doing well but I put them first. Before I left, recognizing that there is no guarantee abroad, I had already conditioned my mind that even if I end up not getting what I worth abroad but my children succeed, I'm okay, it is a sacrifice I'm willing to make. But at the end, thank God it worked fine for me, i made a career pivot when i got abroad and boom, i became even more successful than i was in Nigeria but I was ready to accept my fate if it didn't work out. As Canadian citizens, I and my children can decide to come back to Nigeria tomorrow to work or do business, can decide to work or do business in Canada or the US. These are 3 options available to my kids now and I have never been happier. Note that there are kids or people who have 5 strong passports but are useless so it is not always a guarantee but I believe as a parent, it is my duty to do the best I can to position them in a way they can become more successful and hope it works out at the end. The decision to migrate is solely based on your view. Look at what you desire most and see how your decision will affect it. Again, there are no guarantees anywhere in this world, we just have to do the best we can to achieve our desires.[/quote So we that we don't have the opportunity to japa and we are struggling to take care of our children here and trying given them.the best ,our future or that of our children are not secured abi. Going abroad is not the gateway to making it in life and I think to fulfill purpose is all not about going abroad. I don't say abroad is not good really but don't always tell it to our faces that our children will.ot make it here as well in Nigeria na Na chance wey u get we no get oo we no kill person pls] |

Usefulsense:Sir, you're still young, don't be discouraged by your age. I don't know why people of your age group are regarded as old in the world of today. My former head of department where I work is about your age, he relocated to the UK last year, he is doing very well overthere. Just open yourself to new opportunities. You have at least, a minimum of 12 years in active service. All the best. Cheers! 1 Like |

There are many guys like you on NL with amazing wives in the west who do everything to support the family, love you, respect themselves and respect you. Why aren’t y’all more vocal about it? The ones we don’t stop hearing about are the evil western wives who have grown wings and refuse to wear the proverbial red pant and black bra. 😏 Firefunmi2014: 1 Like |

My candid advice to all Nigerians, especially the married men above 48yrs earning above 1million Naira in Nigeria in secured job or business is this: If you are a Nigerian man living in Nigeria and earning above 1million monthly, and you are married and above 48yrs, please forget about relocating permanently abroad, it's a very bad move. Plan your life well in Nigeria, invest wisely in real estate (secured lands mostly) and open trust accounts for your kids. Plan for your kids to do their masters abroad if you couldn't afford sending them for undergraduate when they get to university education age. Abandoning all you have worked for years to relocate abroad to start all over again at 48yrs above in an odd job or low paid career is not a good move. Forget all the nonsense talks of doing it for your kids, you should enjoy your own life too cos those kids may end up not remembering you nor Nigeria after you make all the sacrifice of moving them abroad at early age, what then becomes of you at old age? Forget all these worries we have in Nigeria, a child that will excel will excel, it is our destiny that matters most, environment play second role. Yes developed countries offer good opportunities for our kids to succeed, but it also makes it easier for your kids to forget you and forget their Nigerian root as they grow older abroad. Make una de think this thing well oh, Japa is best for single guys below 30yrs and at worst those below 45yrs and those struggling financially in Nigeria with no visible change in sight. Nigerians love jumping into every bandwagon without thinking it through. Cryptocurrency trading came every Nigerian became a cryptocurrency trader. All those HYIPs aka Ponzi came every Nigerian became an investor investing millions to triple their income overnight. Yahoo came every Nigerian boy and girl automatically became Yahoo boys and girls. POS business came, every Nigerian turned to POS business owner. Mini importation came, every Nigerian turned to Mini Importer. Skit making came, every Nigerian turned to Skit Maker and Content Creator overnight. Linda Ikeji made money in Blogging, every Nigerian turned to Blogger wanting to hammer like Linda. There was a time every Nigerian almost turned to kidnappers kidnapping even their own siblings. Qatar opened door, every Nigerian wan Japa to Qatar without plans. UAE opened door every Nigerian wanted to Japa to Dubai. UK the same. My people make una de use una brain small oh 6 Likes 1 Share |

Why are you angry? I made sure I stated it clearly that there is no guarantee of success anywhere in the world. I even gave an example that some people can have 5 strong passports and are still useless. I never said there is no opportunity to be successful in Nigeria, I said I wanted "MORE" opportunities for my family. That means in addition to the opportunity they have in Nigeria, I wanted them to have more options in other countries. Oga, this your beef is unnecessary |

Kenn55:@ops there lies the answer that u need. The few months I have spent abroad is the best years of my life. Please grab this opportunity for the sake of your children. If u miss it ur children will hate you for it. I almost had a bitter experience when all my fathers friends relocated their family while my own parents leaved us in naija to suffer with them. Later , he truthfully regretted that decision and apologised to us children |

franchasofficia: I tell you! Bad leadership is one of the main reasons middle age men and women are migrating to start all over. N1.1m (Nigerian value) is a great pay anywhere in the world. There are only a few jobs/countries where your one month salary will conveniently cover your annual rent (12 months). This is the privilege this man wants to leave behind because of bad leadership. Apart from corruption and stolen money, no governor, senator, or house of rep member in Nigeria earns N1.1m as basic monthly salary. Corruption is the reason this country is dying. On a normal level, this man ought to live larger than a commissioner and house of rep member. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Are there jobs for a Secondary School Teacher in Australia? |
Re: Japa: I Am Confused, Please Advise. by franchasofficia: 6:42pm On Sep 02, 2023 |
Acidosis:Really sad brother. A lot of Nigerian men above 40yrs abandoned their jobs and businesses paying them over 1million naira monthly to migrate to UK to start all over as caregivers, factory cleaners, etc earning 1,700 pounds that is not enough to pay rent of a 3bed apartment in London, pay car insurance and maybe their utility bills, and when you ask them they say they are doing it for their kids. Kids that will grow to forget you and forget Nigeria as they grow to embrace western culture that doesn't make it necessary to cater for your aged parents, so to what end are you abandoning your own life for kids that may never take care of you at old age? Its just that Nigerians like following the bandwagon without weighing their options rationally, it is well oh |
