This is very interesting.

I get the feeling the US will help Nigeria whereever they can, that is why they are sending their Deputy Finance Minister. Make no mistake, this is about the economy.

The only problem I see is that Republicans in the US Congress will try and block anything that requires their approval.

The US government has been impressed with Mr Tinubu's free market agenda and see him as someone they can work with. This contrasts with South Africa 's socialist (pro Russia) tendencies.

The US also needs Nigeria to be on their side in the quest for influence in Africa, and so, I expect the US will reward Nigeria with favourable policies for not joining Brics.

Kids shouting from the roof tops that Nigeria should join Brics just don't understand international politics.

You go to where your bread will be buttered. In the present world order, the butter is in the US's hands.

I prefer US to Russia.

Country who Russia covers dont have standard economy like those the US covers.
Ukraine and finland comes to mind

The US is not in the business of helping anybody but themselves. Their interest in Nigeria is occasioned by the sudden realisation that China in particular is gaining influence in countries they had abandoned economically. Particularly since the exit of George Bush Jr, the USA's interest in Africa is primarily military, so called human rights and "sustaining democracy". The last US president to do anything significant to assist the growth of Africa economically was George Bush with the AGOA act.

America is only interested in Nigeria because they know if they dont act others will gain a foothold and if indeed Nigeria is on an upward trajectory, they cant afford to be left behind and lose influence to the likes of China.

its not about Nigeria to them it's about China and other rising economic powers.

Ibadan born and America raised. Don't let anyone tell you that school is a scam. The dude is very educated.

Of course school is not a scam but I seriously p!ty any parent who with the realities before our eyes doesn't also investment into training their kids in how to be very well skillfully developed outside accademics.

Our environment have produced graduates who can't think outside the box, who are full of pride and too lazy to make a living for themselves except via white collar jobs.

This have made most to become so depressed and bitter about life. Most are just a burden to their parents.

Bottom line, school is not a scam. But the ability to make a living using your God given brain matters most.

Welcome home in advance Wally. Make una collaborate with FG make investment troop into the country.

We don’t need aid, we need Investments in $billions.

It is more likely to be government to government assistance.

The reality is that most US companies won't make real investment in Nigeria. Maybe in fintech, the stock exchange or the oil and gas sector.

Can you imagine Americans surviving on a large scale wheat or rice farm in Gombe, Adamawa, Ekiti etc. Yet, that is the sort of investment we need right now. The weather alone. Security, and the people nko. That's why it's Indians & Chinese that are surviving here. You'll hardly find many Europeans in Nigeria. Our society is tough.

Also, US companies have so many options around the world where they can invest, and the US government can't force privately owned US companies to come to Nigeria.

What Nigeria needs now is some kind of relief in terms of foreign currency, mainly dollars. If the US can find a way to help Nigeria, that will go a long way.
