Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Fill another DS 160
2. Open your cgi profile and update (input the new DS 160 confirmation number and the new passport number and click save.
3. Go back to mama's cgi profile afyer 3 days and request to print another visa appointment letter.

Hi guys
I just got a letter inviting me for a conference in July 2024
My question is, what is the next process with this letter of invitation. Should I go ahead and start filling the DS 160 form or is there something else I need to do first?

You will probably NOT get an interview date before July 2024.
Invitation Letter not exactly useful in the true sense of it all.

An invitation letter has no bearing on your application. It is not step 1.
Just be detailed in your DS160 application (which is Step 1)

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Imagine you are going to an exclusive wedding party inside ASO ROCK and you got to Gate 1 and met with soldiers (bouncers ) at the gate . The first question they will ask you is " Who invited you here ? OR Where is your invitation letter ?

2. My friend , that invitation letter is 100% important to you , therfore keep it jealously . Your 1st step is to go and pay your MRV quickly . 2nd step is to fill your DS 160 and be certain that it display your photo at the end of the final submission.

3. Listen ! You can get that July appointment via Emergency application. Naturally, going for conference falls under Buisness Emergency and the only tool you will use to apply for it is that invitation letter . Now tell me , is that invitation letter 100% useful or not ?

4. Don't dance to your favourite song yet. That invitation letter must present you as a hyper -important attendee whose absent in the conference might affect the conference outcome. The letter has to place you in a MUST ATTEND position (Business Emergency).

If you re going for a conference you need an invitation. That you were not asked does not mean is not suppose to be part of your preparation, situation can vary. Most person saying invitation letter in not important, have you not gone for interview before or even been to US port of entry. Please prepare in every way. Recently my cousin went for interview after answering all other questions, the final question the VO asked for was the church invitation conference he claimed he was going, there he had a problem cause the dates of the conference was past , he couldn't get a dates within the conference schedule. The VO told him the event is past on that basis he was denied. I also even know a friend many years ago that got asked his invitation at port of entry, that one enter wahala cause the conference he claimed was not actually holding, agent was the one that package it, he was arrested and kept for almost a year, he wasn't deported, he was later released after many processes, he is doing well today. Invitation is important especially for conferences. If you escape interview, perhaps at port of entry you might be asked.

Just disregard those hammering on your invitation letter. It has no bearing. No one cares.
You will not get EMERGENCY APPOINTMENT BASED ON CONFERENCE even if you are the organizer. Conference is never an impromptu stuff. It is just like wedding invitation. You will never get emergency appointment even if you are the father of the bride and the groom makes emergency proposal. They believe proper conference would have been planned a year or more ahead .
Therefore, fill the forms, get a date which will likely be long. When the date is close, update your CGI form. If you have a new conference you want to attend at that time, update it. If you donโ€™t have, change plans to tourism. If you really qualify for US visa, it doesnโ€™t matter whether you book hotel for tourism or you register to attend a conference. Those things are very very secondary.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. Sir, with due respect I disagree with you with solid explanation and personal experiences.

2. On the USA embassy . The only 3 categories of people who can apply for Emergency appointment are :

* Student Emergency
...Apply with Form I 20 and Sevis fee receipt

=โ‰ˆ===โ‰ˆโ‰ˆโ‰ˆ====
*Medical Emergency
..... Apply with hospital letter from Nigeria and from the USA stating that the applicant need urgent medical attention.

.... Or Attending burial ceremony or repatriating a dead person back to Nigeria. (Still needs an invitation letter )
=======โ‰ˆ===

*Business Emergency
... Conference or going to inspect or buy goods in America .

3. I have personally gotten all these categories of emergencies and I am still getting it (not for advertising purposes) . I am following what the US embassy stipulates .

4. You don't have to plan a conference. If you are working with Psychiatric hospital and a conference on drug abuse happens tomorrow, the hospital may decide to send you there because such conference might not happen again . What you plan ahead is no more an emergency .

**** Sir , anyone who disputes the above explanation does not know how to go about it . Period .

**** B1/B2. Business and pleasure ( Conference is business // Wedding is pleasure ).

Hello,

Your advice is needed please.

I and my family of 4 applied for a US B1/B2visa in 2020 but was cancelled by the embassy due to covid. I later had it rescheduled for June 28, 2024.

But he is the issue, we are all in Canada now on work permit while the kids are on study permit.

I need to see my sister in the US and I am also missing home. But attempt to get a early date here in Canada has been unsuccessful.

I thinking of flying back to Nigeria alone to attend the interview but I am wondering if my chance of getting the visa approved is weak since my ties( family, Job, Homes and others) are no longer in Nigeria.

What are your thoughts?

Hey ๐Ÿค

** If your intention is just to visit and you have a good job , then process it from Canada. There are conferences , seminars , business visits etc that can grant you an emergency appointment. ** Your sister can even facilitate your visit via other reasonable reasons.

** If your intention is to finally relocate or be able to live in both countries simultaneously then read the following ;

1. The major shareholders (nuclear family) of your ties are already in Canada, therefore , you don't have much ties to proof in Nigeria again . Other ties to proof are extended family, businesses etc which are all unreliable ties .

2. Patience is a great virtue . Don't come for the interview in Nigeria (cancel your appointments if possible) . Nigeria is not running away neither is your sister running away in America (visiting your sister in USA is a feeble excuse , she can visit you in Canada too). You can keep pace with both your sister and Nigeria via social media's because if your visa is denied , you will waste flight ticket and its going to be a stain on your future USA visa record and return dejected to Canada for other solutions which I will outline below ;

SOLUTION
==โ‰ˆ=====

3. I have Six (6) friends who presently works in Sterlin Heights , Michigan, USA but they live in Ontario, Canada. ** I also know 7 Canada PRs who carry loads to USA on B1/B2 visas as truck drivers .

4. Talk to your sister in the USA for possible jobs offer from a US companies who have annexes in Canada. You must also involve the service of an Immigration attorney. Let them process H-1B visa for you .

5. Involve the service of a USA Immigration attorney (don't hire Canada attorney) . They knows the gimmick of the game. From your H-1B you can finally move to the USA with your family via *L-1 Visa:** For intracompany transferees.

6. Leave your kids to face their studies . They are your tie in Canada and can sort themselves out by transferring to any US institutions later. They now have the better chances than you and your wife .

Scarcity of date issue is not peculiar to Nigeria only. Itโ€™s only worse in Nigeria and itโ€™s gradually dousing in other countries.

If you're eager to visit your family in the U.S. but haven't secured a suitable date for your visa interview in Canada yet, consider returning home to attend the interview. Traveling with kids solely for an interview can be quite stressful. If asked by the Visa officer why you made the journey, simply explain that you have other commitments in the country at the time of the interview, efficiently handling multiple tasks at once.

Ensure your DS-160 form accurately reflects your current situation and answer all questions confidently and truthfully. Best of luck with your interview!

Thanks for taking the time to write this extensive reply.

I don't intend to go work in the US. I want to stay in Canada on working permit until I get my Canadian passport before thinking any thought of further relocating to the US for the sake of the passport.

I currently have an immigrant petition approved and only just waiting for available date.

My intention is to get a fresh breath in Nigeria and used the opportunity to attend my interview and on my way back if given the visa, get into US to visit my sister.

Hey ๐Ÿค

1. In that case , just be honest with the consular about your home feeling and the opportunity to attend the B1/B2 visa interview in order to visit your sister in the US.

2. Humbleness and honesty in the presence of the consular will give you the visa . The VO knows that you have a good profile (your Canada PR as well as your family in Canada) and that if he or she denies you , you will still enter the United States eventually (perhaps from Canada In the future ) but he or she can still deny your visa if you sound commanding or over-confident.

3. Be positive and practice your communication (with the VO) gimmicks .
