obailala:something they bought in 2013?, if they knew they did not have the money to invest, why was it sold to them in the first place, it should have been sold for 100 Naira, to genuine electricity firms, and let the investors put in their money, instead they sold it to quacks that went to borrow money at ridiculous interest rates to buy the dilapidated assets, with no money to invest? |

alizma:They will drag their feet, Monopoly promotes abuse, renewable & solar energy is the future, the sector is designed to fail, how Nigeria got it wrong on electricity only Jehovah knows, metering can’t work, no urban planning, houses were built in a zig zag manner. The rich will have, but the poor will continually be denied that fundamental benefit. 1 Like |

kikero: Bro, you're simply blaming the wrong people There are two sides of the same coin you're trying to blame. People aren't paying enough, there are bypasses but in the same vein i don't see you talking about estimated bills, ridiculous spending on fuels and diesels to generate that same electricity. Hell, people literally buying their own metres, install poles and do all the maintenance associated with it On the same hand as someone already mentioned,it's not the job of your customers to provide money for you to start your business. You simply provide the business and they patronize. That is the sole reason why capitalism exists. The people who can afford to provide this electricity should be simply allowed to take charge and then the govt simply acts as a middle man between them and the customers by making favorable policies that balances both sides of the equation If you raise the money for what we generate, who will now pay that money. If you say we pay #60 for each kw,how will that money be generated when majority of Nigerians are living below that poverty line??. Your argument simply makes no sense tbh 3 Likes |

I'll simply relate it to corruption. Trillions of naira if not dollars has been wasted on power both present and previous administrations but other countries that Nigeria supply power or electricity are enjoying it 24/7 they are even indebted to PHCN and this is over hundred of billions of naira. The importation of industrial generators must be stop not that of smaller gen ones called " called I beta pass my neighbor " but the government will not do that cuz they have the money to purchase industrial generators at the expense of the poor masses. They want the middle or lower classes to suffer, put them into darkness. This new ownership or the companies that bought NEPA are worst, they only want to make profits by issuing unextimated bulls and consumers are compelled to pay the bills. 1 Like 2 Shares |

allthingsgood:With prepaid meter you pay as you use, Abi? Why suffer headache for another man's problem? Nobody thought mobile telecommunication would be affordable to Africans. But it is now. There are luxury cars for sale all over 9ja. People buy whichever car they can afford. Use power as you can afford. That is the beauty of prepaid meters. Benin Republic and Ghana have better power supply. Citizens there are not richer than Nigerians. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Mistakemaker: To have 24/7 electricity is a very simple all we need is political will. First state and local government must allowed by law to generate and distribute their via private/public partnership. Secondly, all discos must be mandated to supply prepaid meters to every household / flats and rooms. They should MAKE PREPAID METERS AVAILABLE LIKE PHONES in TELECOM sector. Thirdly, solar energy, wind energy and free energy should be encouraged and made cheaper by all levels of government. Import duties on these products should be zero. POLITICAL WILL is very crucial. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

First step is ensuring that everyone has prepaid meter installed in each household. Power consumption will be reduced and our electric transformers will have breathe of fresh air. 1 Like |

Darestc2k12:People that can’t pay ordinary primary school teachers should generate electricity? It seems you have not been to a Local Government secretariat to see the low minded caliber of people that work there? Everything you mentioned from wind, to other renewable energy takes consistent effort & futuristic planning, we are not ready for that, we are looking for a miracle of turning water into electricity abracadabra, come and perform a miracle pastor. 1 Like |
