I thought these same people were once Heads of the Nigeria Police Force angry

In their time they could not reform the police. What new ideas have they acquired since they left the force that they are not going to use in reforming the police. If when they were in a position of authority they could achieve nothing, how are they going to achieve anything now.

Why do we keep recycling, old, absolutely useless leaders in this country. Are there no other good people we can use.

I thought Yar Adua is educated. Why does he continue to make all these silly appointments. Bringing in people who have achieved nothing to head positions in which in their time they achieved nothing

Is this all about trying to provide jobs for the Northern elite, most of whom can not survive outside government and politics, or is it about trying to please as many politicians as possible

The sooner the Election Tribunal nullifies Yar Adua's election the better for Nigeria.
We are gradually taking a fast spiral down wards

Truly, Nigeria is jinxed. We simply pick the wrong people all the time and even when we mean well, we do evil.

I just posted this same question. Gambo that was a total failure under IBB and ABACHA.

The guy has no credential and he is always begging for contracts from incumbent IGP.

Nigerians are doom for ever with this development. the only credible candidate in that list is Perry Osanyande.

He retired as a DIG with outstanding honors

We are part of the failure called Education. We Nigerians naturally thinks once somebody has a degree then he is educated or has intellect. some certificate are bought, some is given because of connection, some are earn via somebody writing exams for the other. so many variation of degree.

Being a graduated or educated or with a college/university degree does not equate with intellect or good judgement. Then intellect and good judgement also require wisdom, that what makes a leader.

So to me, unless you are able to show ability to lead with clear and unambigious plan laid bare to the public, you are no fit to hold office.

PDP is a fools party and as a result no direction, so also is our opposition parties.

Maybe all those old men should just go home and let youth try even if they get it wrong or mess it up at least it is their own future they are messing up. All those oldies have messed up their past and present, they shouldn't be allowed to mess up our future.

OBJ is being made to look like a saint now. He paid all national debt( first in the history of Nigeria) and left nearly $50B foreign reserve, are we going to return to Shagari sadaqat regime when the state monies is given away to the 'needy' who happens to be your friends and relation without accountability.

I am not politically inclined but I can do 100 times better, I can tell what I can do for the country and start doing it from day one. As the country will be my employer, I shall report to them on a weekly basis.

I will start with Electricity, Road Networks, Business Zones to create employment with Incentives for new business to start up and encourage people in Diaspora to come home. I intend to complete electification within 4 years not a day more.

Nigeria need a very healthy, and energetic, alert and able , humble leader. Not party poodle

Keep in mind that Nigeria is not an easy country to rule; there are too many invisible obstacles that one has to tackle as the president.
Trust me, Yar'Adua is a very honest man, he's sincere and has a solid integrity. He's doing his best and with time, I'm sure that it will be clear to everyone.

Just don't forget that OBJ left a shitty house behind for Yar'Adua and it will take time to get things back to normal.

Don't give up!

We are tired of the worn out rhetoric in bold. Yar Adua a honest man surrounded by dishonest people. Trying his best, for how long ? By bringing in failures and defenders of thieves to help run his governemnt ?
You know what they say about show me your friend and I will tell you who you are.
Birds of a feather will always flock together

What is so hard about police reform that you can not bring new, clean, intelligent and credible people to carry it out, you had to go bring people who failed woefully as police bosses. What are they going to do differently now. What sort of reform are they going to carry out

In fact, what is all this story about police reform?
Even a secondary school pupil knows the problem of the police.
Poor funding, poor incentive, lack of adequate equipment and Arms, weak discipline and poor training. Is this too hard for the Fed Govt to understand ? Why the useless police reform committee. We have had several police reforms committees whose recommendations, if any, never saw the light of the day.

This is just a way of keeping some absolutley inconsequential people in jobs. Nothing significant will come out of it.
Nigeria sucks sad

You should try:Nigeria as a country is surrounded by bunch of dishonest alarmist citizens.
Yes, Yar'adua is the president, but it is still up to you and I to make things happen in this country.
Instead of singing old songs, we should all look at each other and ask ourselves that "what can we do to rebuild this country"

We need to stop sounding like bunch of beggars and do something positive toward elevating our nation from the dust.

Since when did asking the leaders to do their job in fixing the roads for which we pay them to do, providing us electricity ( for which we pay them for), giving us good education ( for which we pay them for) become begging?? LMAO!!!

What the HECK has asking the government to do it's job FOR WHICH IT IS BEING PAID FOR to do with BEGGING ?? This is sort of like telling a man who paid for a House to STOP WHINING AND GET TO BUILDING THE HOUSE HIMSELF when the Contractor does not deliver but will not step down so another can take over who is ready to build the House,  NA WA o!!!!!!
Re: Nigeria Is Really Going Round In A Shit Cycle by funloving(m): 5:10pm On Jan 05, 2008
And we all know that this well worn argument about all of us getting together to make Nigeria great has never and will never work.
That is why every nation needs a leader. You need somebody to give direction and the rest will follow or contribute.
Where there is no sense of direction no matter the little individual effort, it will come to nought.

There are lots of well meaning Nigerians within and outside the country who are making and have been making individual effort, but we are still were we are. Why ? Because Nigeria is too large and complex for such individualism. This is not a small family hamlet where one lone ranger can till the land to feed the rest and make a huge impact in the process.

Without competent leadership we will continue to run in circles, irrespective of the good some of us do individually

It is the job of government to create an environment for individuals to excel. Anything else is kindergarteen play time.
