If anioma state is created,with the level of human and natural resources it has,it could end up becoming the success story of state-hood in Nigeria.
It has the potential of becoming the 'model state.'

The Nigerian government already has too many ministers, senators, representatives, etc. Anioma will need a governor, deputy governor, senators, commissioners, advisors, assistants... the list goes on. You trust Nigerians to enter government and perform good deeds right? Do not be fooled.

We have too many states as is. Haggling for more states is befriending regression. We already have 36 states that aren't properly maintained. If Nigeria wants viable states, then states need to be combined, government size needs to decrease, and politicians need to do what they were sent to do.

Nigeria is like a bad mother. A bad mother has children who are ill-mannered, lazy, disrespectful. She's disappointed and wants to have another child, hoping that that child would be an angel. It doesn't work that way.

Wow! I never knew we have that much of igboland trapped in edo state,before now,i only knew of iru,ekpon,igbanke and inyelen.

We seriously need this anioma state before these people become bini people,or atleast do a boundary readjustment to unite them with ika in delta north. They are just too many to let go just like that.
Does Ohanaeze know of these people? If they do,what exactly are they doing about this situation?

The thing about anioma state is that sometimes i wonder if we would lose by pulling out that part of igboland out of south south.
I mean Asaba is actually benefiting from the crude oil from both anioma and non anioma parts of delta,and hiding under south south cloak, those igbos in south south sometimes allows us to get a double portion from the national cake.

Removing anioma from south south might not be that strategic,having an anioma state that is still part of south south seems like a good option to me,and making an anioma the strong man of delta state politics would even be a better option.

Nigeria is not properly managed. Our current states are not properly managed. Anioma will not be properly managed. If A equals B and B equals C, then A will equal C. I guarantee you there are men and women already dreaming of political careers in Anioma state. Not for the benefit of Anioma, but for the benefit of their pockets.

With the increase of states has come an increase of problems. One more state equals another problem. Nigerians need to stop with this need of ethnically-run states. It's not working.

I agree with you to a point. yes creating more states does not necessarily mean they will function well, however the situation on the ground means that the Ibo's between Edo and Delta (Old Bendel state), would be better served by having an entity that enconprises the group. we cannot shy away from the fact the Ibo's are highly marginalised in Delta state, right form creation. We have even heard the likes of Ibori and his Ilk swear that Asaba will never see good, questions have to be asked why a Government house extension had to be built in Warri. Seeds of disunity were sown at that stage. These are real facts that cannot be taken out of a legitimate argument for ones people to seek an entity called thier own. It is easy for people to make simplistic comments about this request, but believe me, I have been in positions of understanding to see the real need why this should be considered. The fact remains, that Nigeria is still not politically mature enough whereby Merit rather than tribe comes into play when govemenance is sought

...while going through the posts,i came across one 'Ogugua88',who claims to be half Anambra half Delta and he tries so much to convince others that there is absolutely no need for an extra state,citing cost of running another state as being heavy on Nigeria.But also i wld want to know whats his view on the fact that amoung the six geo-political zones in Nigeria,it is only in the East that you have just five states while the rest has six and seven respectively.This has resulted to the East being the list represented in the national houses of Assembly,federal cabinets,federal allocation,appointments etc.You try to sound altruistic,just the same reason am nt a fan of Zik,while others try hard to preserve their region,he was busy playing the Zik of Africa and just like you,trying hard to patronize others and being the good man!pls wake up,face the realities of our time,goodluck!

At this point, it is not wise to split the 5 South East states further. The best decision is to create Anioma State and move it to the South East. This gives the South East the 6th State it has been asking for, and most importantly, it shows the imperative of uniting the Igbo people into one region.

Its not a crime to make requests sha & that is where the story will end.
