That's what happens when you patronise agents. Hope your documents then where genuine. As this will be putting your current visa request in jeopardy...

A comprehensive guide to assist you is here:

Thanks for the link. Does that mean students don't need to book appointment with the embassy to submit their documents after verification and interview with programme officer in Abuja?

Note: Under all visa categories, appointments
for visa application submission at France
Embassy are scheduled at VFS centre, Abuja. You need to book a visa appointment two months in advance but not more than three months.

Visa Appointment Time:

Applicants or Representatives who are visiting VFS to scheduled prior appointment to visit France Embassy need to come to VFS from 8am. till 12pm.

This is to inform all visa Applicants that after
applying at VFS, you will have your biometrics
enrolled at the French Consulate the next
working day at No. 1 Oyinkan Abayomi Drive,
Ikoyi, Lagos until further notice.

This is due to the technical hitches at the VFS France Visa Application Centre.

1. Book a non-paid reservation with any airline that fly to France and present same for your visa application.

2. This is a post from a Nairalander who did her health policy recently with an Insurance firm:

coldgate: @pinkynanny: N450,000 for Insurance! My Husband and I with our two children did ours for a total of 21,000. N5250 for each person for two weeks @ mutual benefit insurance.

3. Alternatively you can open the link below to see a list of several Insurance body mandated to issue you a travel policy.

somebody should advise me here please. I applied for schengen visa at the visa application centre , Lagos on 26th June, 2013 and my biometrics was captured on 27th June, 2013.
The purpose of applying for the visa is to attend a short course in Netherlands between Sept 16th to 30th 2013 for which the Netherland Government has already awarded me a fellowship which covers all the financial implication throughout the period of the short course. My host institution has already booked a return flight ticket from 13th -28th of September 2013 while the insurance and accomodation for the period has been secured for me. At the point of submitting my documents, I was told that the instruction date for applications submitted on day will be from 24th Sept, due to backlogs of application at the embassy which means, my application may not be treated on time to meet my schedule trip.
I have mailed the embassy twice, sent a letter and other required documents through DHL explaining the situation to them but up till now, Ive not heard a word from them. What else can I do to salvage the situation?. Would they ever treat my application before my trip?. Please, I need your advise badly .

Thanks

I also experienced same with the French embassy, submitted my application on the 3rd of june and had my biometrics on 4th of june, was informed then that my application wont be treated until 28th of august due to backlog.......my brother, the visa was issued on the 18th of July, just after 6 weeks. Be positive, your visa application would be treated before then.

Correct the initial mistake of the first application and submit a new one. The time frame for an appeal is quite long, dont waste your time on an appeal you're not sure will favour you.

You're on point. A paid conference is what the embassy require as a prerequisite for issuance of entry visa.

It is valid. But just to be on a safe side, it's best you still take out another insurance policy from a France embassy stated Insurance company on their Nigerian website. This is on pdf below:

Thanks tzetzefly. Please i'll also like to know if a certificate of incorporation for a sizeable business naming me as a major shareholder will help in my application since i dont have landed properties. And aside the Attestation D'Accueil, will the person inviting me have to write a letter too? (I never had to get a letter for applic's from the UK). How important does this letter have to be?

You can use that if you are self employed, know that you have to prove the tax clearance. As per attestation d'accueil, the person inviting you should write a letter to the embassy, also will have to submit a copy of his/her passport where applicable.

Go through the site for more details. Vfsglobal

Hello tzetzefly, just wise and other gurus in the house. I want you to please tell me what is exactly wrong with my application and what to do to avoid this rejections. Today I just got my processed application from vsf France, and to my disappointment i was denied a France tourist visa. My intention is to go and return back as I just want to build a travel history to enable me reapply for US visit visa on December, after my first US denial, I have been to Dubai and Ghana. This is the documents I submitted and as well as my profile:
Married
Sales supervisor
31 years old
I have a one year old kid
Have been working for 6 years now
Have up to 1.7m + in my salary account
3 months salary pay slip.
Have a monthly income of #145k
I have 2 plots of land though yet to complete the payment valued at #3m so no C OF O only temporal receipt issued , I intend to complete the purchase once i return from Europe by October ending. But I didn't submit this temporal receipt
I Intended to stay for just 9 days.
Medical insurance
Flight reservation
Hotel reservation clearly showing 9 nights
Introduction letter from my employer
Leave letter
Marriage certificate
My child's NPC birth certificate
Copy of my work ID card
Bank stament for 3 months showing my stated income in the introduction letter
Application form and other requirements
My passport and other travel stamps.

Please what's wrong with my application with the rejection stamp on my passport now. the Dubai stamp and other African countries stamp, do I stand a chance to secure a US tourist visa by December if I don't go to any European country Please advice me on what to do , I'm nearly at the point of frustration, is there any European country or any other country i can apply for a visa to better my chances ??
Or do I just reapply at US embassy with just the Dubai and Ghana trip because the guy who interviewed me at US embassy Abuja on June told me the reason for my denial is lack of travel history.

Please help me just wise, favor gal , tzetzefly fly and the good people of nairaland.
God bless you.

In addition to the information i provided above i just checked my passport properly and saw that the France embassy didn't stamp the refusal stamp on my passport, I'm happy for that in a way then the refusal form they have to me indicating the reasons for the rejection bears only my surname on it the the other and first name is someone else's name , please what does that mean

Please I will like to know the easier method of obtaining an invitation letter to france since I do not have anyone over there. How does a paid conference invitation work and what are the processes of getting one as I intend to apply for a shengen visa through the french embassy.
On the other hand, I want also find out if a renewed international passport will be accepted during my application.
Thanks.

If you do not have anyone in France, a paid hotel accomodation is the acceptable method.

Contact a conference organiser of your choice in France, make the required payments and an IV will be sent to you.

I hope you have an established job in Nigeria, a wife and kids? These are some form of ties to your home country.
