My take is this.

John Holt- Do not buy.
Oando- Wait till good financials and fundamentals return to market - the market is always there.
If you can wait for years it is likely to be good, but why not wait? You do not need to be a barging hunter.

The kobo stock I can advice you to buy now is AIICO insurance, good fundamentals, cheap and good financial. It is o.80k or so.

The stock market can give second chance provided you buy the right ones, nay to John holt. There are better stocks with good returns.
keep searching.

why would anyone want to buy OANDO now? with all the past poor cooperate governance in this company? If the rights offer was soo good why is the stock still struggling at 13- 14 even in a good Bull market?

I have asked the so called investment houses asking people to buy this stock or take the rights to go ahead and Underwrite the offer..no one is comfortable doing that and yet they all say its a good one! OANDO is a big fraud! another ENRON in the making! WHAT OF LONG RUN?

hey, Guys i just got this info now,

The Exchange has been notified that, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria Plc (Transcorp) and General Electric (GE) today signed a framework agreement to collaborate in addressing the infrastructural needs of Nigeria, with emphasis on the power and transportation sectors. GE, a global leader in the design, manufacture, supply, installation and management services for the power sector, confirmed its commitment to facilitate the generation of 10,000MW of additional power in Nigeria over the next decade in line with its existing agreement with the Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), signed in March 2012.

Transcorp Ughelli Power Plc (TUP) is a subsidiary of Transcorp, a publicly quoted and diversified conglomerate with strategic investments in the hospitality, agribusiness and energy sectors. TUP won the privatization bid for 100% acquisition of the Ughelli power plant. The framework agreement, which was signed following a closed door meeting with GE's global chairman, Jeffrey Immelt, and Transcorp Chairman, Tony O. Elumelu, CON, will enable GE and Transcorp to explore a partnership for the refurbishment and expansion of the Ughelli power plant in Delta State.

how is it gonna affect transcorp share price?

flour mill will continue her up trend but may retrace some gains soon. Dangote flour is on a strong note and any sale now may bring regret. Fcmb and access bank are relatively strong but internally weak. They are expected to make gains tomorrow but may be light. Sterling bank would still shed price and there is no reason to hold as a short player. Uba is internally weak and there is no much to happen now.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by stockbull(m): 4:19pm On Jan 31, 2013
transcorp has generated thirty percent gains this month and eleven percent gains this week and hardly would any one know this. This may be better than most stocks that advanced but investors were not able to make gains. It is a thing of joy to see stocks that had been bought to be advancing but it is another thing to be able to turn the paper gains to cash. Experience shows that investors blow trumpet of their advancing stocks even when they are unable to make the real big profit. this stock is expected to come out of the top gainers of this year. For those who have positioned, the stock continue her uptrend tomorrow.
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by stockbull(m): 4:57pm On Jan 31, 2013
for those who question oando rights issue, i may not talk much but there are manipulations in the stock as most shiv are acquired by managements, big names . The question is that for those who are qualified to acquire the rights, do you have it and how many ordinary investor do have it. Even for the AGM, are you sent the form early enough to be able to attend the meeting. Oando is strong but....

ihedioramma: OK, AS U SE IT CAN THE STOCK GO UP LIKE#45 THIS 2013? WERE CAN I GET OANDO FORMS?
it is not likely to even go as up as #20 . it would be very difficult for the stock to cross #15. i forecast a yearly high of #14 but the stock will hit #10 several times and it would retrace. we should be expecting the stock to dance in between #10 and #15 this year. but one thing left is that no one can explain what will happen in the future not even any pastor as regards stock. YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO THE LANGUAGE THE STOCK WOULD SPEAK AS THE YEAR GOES.
i do not know the form you are talking about but if it's oando rights, you need to talk to your broker as you should have been sent the details about the rights in your mail box or address.i mean the circular with other info hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..............the fact is that, it might just be 22222222 late unless they are expanding the period

dont look much into dividend now in any stock as big companies were not even strong to pay good dvd in few years back. not like in the pre 2003 boom not to talk of these two companies with no story dividend history. to be sincere, the time for dividend yield has not yet come. they are only recovering now. john holt is an old company that deals in machines, machinery and equipment production and maintenance and c and i deals into leasing. the best to do is to make some google search to find out. this is not yet time to invest in any one of them at all..................... but the fact is that with some good development in c and i leasing, they will break out this year and as for johnholt, it is still overpriced and investors are still sleeping to see it under priced. the conglomerate sector is coming out to become the toast of investor.johnholt failed to trade low and high for some time now, the only thing that makes the stock to be falling like rock is just loss momentum. it is not yet time for the two.

I have been following this thread, reading suggestions and advices from vibrant Nigerian on stocks, am happy. But I want to talk on Oando, u see stock buying depends on ur intentions (ie if u r short & long term investor). Am betting everyone who doesn't believe in oando, that d stock will make mark b4 mid year.I hv analyzed it, brokers like cashcraft & vetiva ....also see a huge prospect in d stock (ie if u r a long term investor). Oando is on their right issue now to raise money to pay conocophillips, for acquiring their drilling sites etc in rivers state cos conocophillips is leaving Africa entire (source bloomberg). Now oil subsidy era is gone, what position do u think oando will b placed in near future. Stock recommendation .... Fidelity (sell @ N4.20, honyflour (sell @ N3.) Buy now and hold for 3months & sell off. For my friends having vitafoam b getting ready for sell or hold till 15th of feb for dividend qualification of 30kobo. Finally, seek advice from ur stockbroker b4 any transactions, Remain blessed

@stockbull , can i get oando forms at any bank? do u want me to buy oando now? or if u are to buy can u buy it now? .
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by nereiskc(m): 2:59am On Feb 03, 2013
Actually, oando right issue is meant 4 only existing shareholders of d company, and right issue form hv been sent to all shareholders of d company bt due to d problem Nipost is having abt their pension that lead to closure of some its offices nationwide, I dnt think is everybody will get d form.I advice u to visit First registrar website online, click on Oando right at d down part of d front page, a page will open then type ur name; your shareholder nos will display with the nos of units u hv and nos unit u r due to buy, then u can download d form directly. then proceed to bank for payment with d filled downloaded form. I guess is clear now. Remain blessed
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by nereiskc(m): 3:36am On Feb 03, 2013
@ ihedioramma, for one to buy oando now that means d person is a long term investor cos it will take time to bounce back. Again if u look at d oando stock u will see is much undervalued. 2ndly d prospect of d company also matters cos I told u abt d drilling site they acquired from concophillips thereby expanding and stabilizing their stand in sector. 3rdly, for every experience stock investor knows that there is always an upward movt of price in most cases after closure of issuance of any stock that is on IPO or OPO or right issues (laws of demand and supply. NSE doesn't knw hw many units r to b demanded via right issues till after d data is collected @ d end of d issuance, adding to ones traded on floor; thereby shooting up d demand and price). 4thly, I hv been a shareholder of oando since 2007 and I knw d sights and strength of d company. finally, seek professional advice frm u broking firm.......Tnx Sir.

wema and unity banks are penny stocks of d financial sector though in past weeks ago wema hv recorded increasing price likewise unity (which recorded d highest volume traded). If want to buy into these stock bear in mind u hv to endure for a long time. Their dividend and bonus r nt encouraging (in my opinion and I stand to b corrected.). If u want to buy into cheap or penny stock, turn ur search light to insurance sector....like Aiico. They hv clean work sheet and culture of making investors to feel better by paying dividends compare to peers in same sector.....aiico is expected to hit N1.50 in nxt 6months (max).....Ur discretion is advised. lol.....
