Buhari Intended To Stabilize Electric Power By 2019! by Nobody: 12:00pm On Jan 18, 2013
Many of Buhari's apostles on this forum have bombarded us with how a Buhari as President would have ended the problem of epileptic power supply in 24hrs. They claim Buhari would have acted swiftly to put an end to many of our problems with immediate allacrity.

But contrary to this misplaced, mischievous and fallacious claim, Buhari's 2011 campaign mission statement stated UNAMBIGUOUSLY, that he intended to end the problem of epileptic power supply by 2019. The document states:

"Generate, transmit and distribute from current 5,000 – 6,000 MW to at least 15,000 MW of electricity by 2015 and increasing to 50,000 MW by 2019 with a view to achieving 24/7 uninterrupted power supply by 2019 whilst simultaneously ensuring development of sustainable/renewable energy"- Buhari 2011.

http://buhari4change.com/?page_id=71

The question that should bother every patriotic Nigeria is why the disconnect between Buhari intentions/plans and the claims or expectations his apostles on this forum? Between the plans of the incumbent to stabilize power by 2015 and Buhari's plans/intentions to keep us in darkness till 2019, which is better?

To make matters worse, the Buhari apostles on NL claim that GEJ has committed unpardonable sin and "clueless" for his inability to stabilize power in less than 2yrs?

All LIARS, MISCHIEF MAKERS and HYPOCRITES should bow their heads in shame.

How promising is your daft, clueless lord. We do not expect that problem to be solved in a day... We want progress in all sectors 1step at a time. What has ur boss impacted on the ordinary street urchin since resumin office after the death of the promisin U. M. Yar'adua on 5th March 2010?

It is unacceptable to bring in sentiments here. This thread is about comparing power reform plans and set targets of the incumbent and that of Buhari. No need for sentiments. Sentiments dont solve any problem.

Its interesting to know that GEJ intends to stabilise power supply by 2015 after spending over $16billion to generate a little above 2000mw, in a country where rural electrification is a big problem, not much attention is been paid to transmission and distribution, where we buy our transformers, electric poles, pay for a "free" prepaid metre and tens of thousand of neighbourhood still ration power supply. I dey laugh o!

Imagine, my brother. The combined power generated by Nigeria is what is consumed by two big cities in South Africa. I wonder why some chimps are beating their chests over a paltry 5000 MW.

Okay the personalised "privatisation of PHCN" to cronies will solve it. No wonder labour accused the FG of deceit for failing to launch the completed NIPP projects because they intend to hand it over to cronies. Best of luck

Buhari is not yet a president yet you are already condemning his would be actions towards providing 24 hours electricity.why dont you face the situation at hand before crucifying Buhari? or why dont we all vote for him in 2015 and see if he will actually keep to his promise?

Of course he had a plan to reach 15000 MW by 2015 and this would have been achieved through transparency and accountability which is critical to project delivery.

We know where he is headed, and he would certainly have achieved 15000 MW or more by 2015. With Jona today we don't even know if we will manage to hit 6000 MW by 2015. We don't even know if the $4,500 MW we have managed to generate today will last till the end of 2013.

As they say, very clueless in doing his job but knows how to steal N7 trillion.

Sad, very sad indeed.

Will you shut up my friend. How much has PDP spent on these horrible projects since around 2003 when the NIPP was launched. Going to about $50 billion today with only 2000 MW to show.

You should be ashamed of your rotten self.

Fake argument. Brazil is swimming with corruption while having stable power and other major infrastructure. Same for Russia that is more corrupt than Nigeria yet are one of the biggest world powers. I could go on and on. Fighting corruption is not development. No wonder you think an almost 80 year old man will be able to understand modern day governance. Only in Nigeria! cheesy cheesy cheesy

Corruption is not an issue in Development? You are beyond daft. Russia grew over the years through a Socialist state that promoted discipline. What Russia lives on today is that which it built in those years. The rate of development has declined from what it used to be, why? Chronic corruption eating deep into the system.

Brazil on the other hand ranks at 69, far above Nigeria. Is it there yet? No. Can more be done? Yes. Development growth, rate of savings and investment speeds it up as per keynessian models. If you don't invest, how do you?

Sharrap there, dis is d HYPOCRISY am talking about. GEJ has already doubled public power supply that he met on ground and it is not just IMPROVING BUT IT IS SET TO CERTAINLY IMPROVE EVEN MORE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER TIME cos there is even as we speak about 3000MW power that is almost already available to be added to d grid dis yr alone; and dis is apart from d huge unfathomable possibilities from a REFORMED and PRIVATISED power sector that GEJ has single mindedly pursued for 2yrs now, which has bn rightly haild by most experts as d SOLUTION to Nigeria's power problems both now and esp in d future.. Now get LOST

Bwahahahahaha! You are not intelligent and enlightened. Russia has always and will always be a corrupt country right from the time of the czars. That was what led to the split of the USSR! But it never stooped their development into a world power. People like the Chelsea owner made their wealth from the corrupt Russian system many years ago! I am glad to educate you.
