Does the fact that a bride is not pregnant mean that the couple have not engaged in premarital sex? Again, if the bride is pregnant, is it not a good thing that the couple have agreed to marry? Forbidding pregnancy before wedding may lead to several cases of abortion which is an act of taking lives.

It is imperative to note that I am not a catholic neither was my wife pregnant before time, but this is one area where I am with the catholic church.

I don't think it is appropriate to have intending couples perform a pregnancy test before they are wedded. I don't see any reasonable explanation for such practice.

Are they trying to ensure that the man does not marry someone who is pregnant with another man's child? Or are they saying that if the man happens to be responsible then both of them will be ostracized? Or is it that the lady will be given some special gift for not getting pregnant?

Really, I don't see the rationale for the pregnancy test. I do support some form of medical examinations before marriage however but this should come from the couples and not something that is forced on them. I believe this should be a matter of choice.

As much as I agree with you the bottomline is this:

no one is forced to attend these 'churches'. If the couple doesn't like the rules of the church they attend then by all means, there are a thousand other churches available.

This is an all time low for christianty. Its gonna fade away no matter how they enforce these laws. Very soon they will back pregnancy test up with the bible.

Its a No No for me. Carry out a pregnancy test on my wife before you wed us? Is Ikoyi Marriage Registry on strike? I will so insult that pastor and take a drive to Ikoyi. It aint a bad thing. I know CAC,Redeem also follow this procedures. And for a case i knew in CAC,the pregnant lady got punished for it. Churches preaches against pre-marital sex so why should this be a case

Yea...better to wait till the child is born before getting married, or preferably, kill the child and get married ASAP.

Afterall, marriage is simply the union of the man and the woman, the child is an obstacle to their love.

Also, since churches are like clubs, you can just walk into next one down the street and get married if the one you attend refuse the union.
