I don't see any threads on Adobe Flex on this forum, so i was just wondering if there are any Flex developers here, please signify so we can do some Flex talking grin...

Then to all those who are not yet on the train of moving people, what are you waiting for?? If you are a mobile app developer or an aspiring mobile app developer and you dont use Flex yet then seriously something is wrong with you. If you like sit down there and be using that ancient and absurd thing called Phonegap. Sometimes i just wonder how the source code of a mobile app created with HTML5 and Javascript would look like. I seriously cant fathom why people still use that crap in 2013.

To all those of you who might wondering what Flex is and why you should even use Flex,

Adobe Flex is a free, open-source framework for building mobile, web, and desktop applications that share a common codebase.

Flex is powerful for its cross platform compatibility, you can create Desktop apps, web apps, Android apps, IOS apps, Blackberry apps with the same code with just little alteration....

Flex is known for its wonderful look and feel..

The Speed of Flex is almost equal to that of light...

Flex and ActionScript 3 is known for its low level abstraction, you don't worry about unnecessary rubbish, you concentrate on business logic...

Actionscript 3 (Flex language) is more organized than most of the other languages you have used in your programming career, wonderful documentation, No unnecessary methods, lovely syntax, a full blown OOP language...

To the Java Web Developers reading this, this would be a breeze for you because most if not all of the tutorials out there use Servlets as Backend [s]Not as if you cant use any other language[/s] and the Actionscript 3 syntax is similar to the Java/Javascript syntax. It even gets better. I also recently worked with a Flex framework data service called BlazeDs. Infact it is a set of data services that significantly simplify the development of data-driven Flex Applications, it uses Java as backend and our very own Tomcat as Web Server to implement Comet in Flex. Also with BlazeDs you can directly access your Java objects located on your Server, you can beleive it right?? shocked.

In the U.S.A today the search flex developers has increased tremendously in the past year and i don't need to tell you that it will gradually come down to our very own Nigeria.

If after reading this you don't open a new tab, type google.com and search for Adobe Flex tutorials then you are maaaaad, very maaaad, yes you, i said you are mad grin grin and very soon you would join this creatures wherever they are

There's almost no doubt flex has very nice gui libraries,en skins, its mature as it has been around fr 5years.its action script is also object oriented as it comes wit apis. I'm a java swing programmr nt wanting to go outside the circle. The farthest I wil go to scripting gui's is JavaFx on json. Besides that, java is everytyn to me.

According to which religion or moral ideology? Java coding is probably lucrative enough to pay his bills. Some people have lives outside coding.

You are missing a world of goodies out their! Don't limit urself by saying u r a java/.net/python/etc programmer. programming languages r just tools and any good programmer can become productive in any language in just 2 weeks given d right level of motivation. So just use d best tool for a particular task rather than blind fanboyism.

@ OP, after developing with html5/jquery mobile and final packaging with cordova (phonegap) I don't care how my code look like. The fact is I got what I want which is develop one app and port on many devices.
I tried using flex and it was a total turn off for for me cause I don't really like change anyway (lol).

But with my cordova Api(s), I can do so many wonderful things with my app, bring web feelings to app with the jqueymobile and I am good to go.

i believe flash is better, lets you create everything, your scrollbars, dialogs etc.
you can have for instance your scrollbars looking better and weighing 3kb
and reusable(depending on how you code it)
while flex, hmmm.
anyways size matters to me.

@op because u have managed to learn flex don't mean u shld go ballistic on it, have been working with flex for over 4 years, nobody in his or her right mind should develop an enterprise mobile app with flex do you want d end user to commit suicide ?? Also don't undermine phonegap that's Just Ludacris that framework is nicely laid out, anyhow your entitled to your own opinion anyway.
