Can A Graduate In Part-time Studies Do Youth Service (NYSC)? by j4jj: 10:48pm On Apr 01, 2013
I recently graduated from a one of the state Universities in Nigeria although through part-time studies and have been hearing different opinion from majorly friends that someone who graduated as a part-timer from a Nigerian school can still do 1year youth service even without collecting an exemption certificate. Please how true is this information? Furthermore, where can I verify the veracity this information?

I decided to post this question because different sundries have been asking this same question, thus I believe Nairaland is one platform that assist individuals to obtain a reasonable information in this regard.

Please advise!!!

the 30 yrs rule is strictly for full time graduates, part time graduates are not eligible for service, they rather get exemption letter.
Same applies to full time students to graduated after age 30

Part time students are denied the chance to go for NYSC but you can only get exemption letter.

The only way you can go for NYSC is if you have a solid runs. I know of someone who ran a part time programme and was mobilized for service through solid runs. (I mean a very strong one)
