More than 1000pounds on just rent and bills monthly is just too much for one person, tbh..

You Londoners can relocate to the U.S.- "The land of the free and home of the brave" grin

There are fewer taxes to pay in most states, with the notable exception of California, New York etc.

I learned that University education is more expensive in the U.K. than America. That's why many British students have been flooding U.S. universities for some years now.

And U.K. healthcare isn't totally 'free'. The taxes you pay fund the NHS.

Someone says you guys are complaining.

LMAO people in Britain moan about everything. The weather number one, then they tell you about bills, the train and bus not coming on time, the bloody traffic, then the neighbours cat coming into their garden, the man at the counter was so "rude".....

LMAO the people really have a sad life

ballabriggs: I got an extra bill of about 800 pounds for three months over the winter and went bunkers. I called and they explained tariff has gone up and I probably also used a lot of heating in the period.

In truth I did turn on the heating system a lot, however, 800 quid just seems over the board. I use Npower and people have warned that it is a bloody rip off. I am looking to change to another source.

Switch to Scottish power. They have this payment plan where you pay a fixed monthly amount via direct debit based on your average household usage. In summer, when you may use less than the average, they will carry over credits for you against future bills. You simply have to supply regular metre readings.

In winter, when you may use higher than average, they will send you a bill for the difference but it will not be drastic as the £800.00 you received. Worth taking time to know billing plans out there otherwise suppliers will always use default/base tariffs which are the most expensive.

I often hear how expensive things are in Britain. Here in Germany, things are relatively cheap compared to other European countries. Rent in Munich is in the high side, but companies there are paying well.

That's over $67,000. That's pretty substantial.

Here in the U.S., some students have an undergrad student loan running into hundreds of thousand dollars! Incredible.
But the average though, is around $40,000.

Ok. Mine is around $7,500 per year. That should be around 5,000 pounds. And funny enough, my student 'loan' is only $200.
Govt and CSU grants have funded most of my tuition.

I can't tell if you are dull. I was just explaining that a brilliant student shouldn't bother whining about debt. There are many scholarships for the gifted.

I live in North Carolina. It is not easy anywhere in the U.S either. I paid $238 for gas and $79 dollars for elecricity for the month of March alone. Some times, I pay more than that. Water is $17 per month. If you want to live well, you have to pay well. That is the difference when compared to Nigeria. It is just not easy paying all these bills whether you are in Britain or U.S. What about day care for two kids? Add $230X2 per week for two kids.
