Help me thank God as I finally got a job with my 2'1 from the premier University of Ibadan.. After months of struggling to get a decent job, I finally got a teaching job with 25000 salary. You are disappointed right? I would rather chose to do it with the mind of still serving than remaining jobless.. Its a job I never prepared for, just roaming the streat today as usual with my cv only to see the advert for Economics teacher, went in asap, dropped my cv, was interviewed and had a micro teaching.. After which I was excellently aplauded.. To those who are still searching, I pray u get somewhere to manage too.. Its better than none... Or what do you think?

Congrats! Never despise the days of little beginning. It can only get better. After few years in teaching and you enjoying it maybe you try your hands on lecturing where you can do your masters/Phd side by side. Lots of private uni is a good place to start.

thats gud, I also got a teaching job recently for just 18,000 but I took it. @ least its 5 mins walk 2 my house so no transport. I m managing dat while applying 4 d big jobs. all will be well

@ op your a lucky chap. This is the begining of your testimony. Don't allow the little opporunity you have slip out your hand, is better to cut your teeth to achieve a result. Do you know that, there are Some people in the prayer houses and ministies now smelling olive oil !!! Even fasting 6:6 just to get a job that will take them out everyday, even if they are not being paid. I don't want to remember how i suffered before i got a job, i cherish my job more than anything on earth, i can't stop thanking GOD for what he have done for me. CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations dear! Teaching job is one of the best jobs there is.

*It helps polish your communication skills

*It keeps you on your toes as you need to be current with changes in education and the world at large.

*You also have a lot of spare time to do other things especially during holidays.

My advice is that you take the job seriously: in the process of searching for better jobs do not neglect the one you have.

While teaching in the school you can pick up part time jobs like weekend ushering jobs, mc for parties,organise tutoring class, private coaching, marketing of services/products etc. You can also write and publish books as a teacher.

There are lots of other jobs you can do for additional income and still be a teacher.

Now I feel more complacent with the encouragement gotten from you guys, its enought to get someone going.. When I spoke with a friend about it, he was equally envious of what I thought was a token. Told me he earns 10 in a pure water company, and if he misses one day, a thousand naira will be deducted from his salary.. A graduate for that matter.. The situation is so bad that it only takes God's intervention to rescue us from this putrid universality. I started my career with an insurance company as a marketer with 15k monthly salary on the condition of meeting target. Couldn't get my salary untill after 3months, guess how much I received? 10k! When I've spent thousands on transportation and calls searching for clients who are not willing to be insured! Then I realized we were being gullibly exploited by the company and I left.. I had rest of mind when I left because I had no headache looking for clients again.. Now I will be sitting just till students have my class, no chasing people to insure themselves again... The story is endless.. I just need to curb it here and thank u guys once more.. Thanks.
