First of all
The United States of America is a unification of state and was never that of Sovereign nations. Secondly China, Japan and Korea uniting is not something of a reality given the strained relationship between China and Japan, Korea i.e South and China. Countries Like Nigeria, Kenya, Sudan, South Africa find it extremely difficult keeping a peaceful environment because of the egalitarian and individualistic nature of each of their respective tribes, and you are talking about Uniting Africa. That will be an irreconcilable problem of agenda, innovation clash. This same debate has been brought forward to the Council of O.A.U numerous times and on every occasion it has largely being defeated. Ask yourself why?

I believe this is a bogus statement. Africans are not necessarily pessimistic people. If that was the case, there would be no reason why many continue to push to live another day. We, as a people are actually some of the most optimistic on the planet but optimism tends to do better when hard work and push for right over wrong is involved. It is faulty thinking to assume that cause a person speaks of the bad, which in this case is truth, means the person is pessimistic or hates Nigeria/Africa.

Men depend on God for what If God gives man work to do and God gives man the resources to accomplish the work. What does it profit man to continue to claim he depends on God when He refuses to use what God has given him to do the work God requires of him?? Is claiming that man depends on God excuse enough for man not to do the work given him?? Is God really happy with men who call his name on every other issue and continue to wallow in laziness and filth, somehow believing God will magically change everything?? i feel u fmk, but for it to work out alot of things have to be cut out/ put in inorder to make it look equal like excluding the northern part of Africa, like abolishing the traditional rulers like nepal, like having strict laws against discriminators, like mapping out some kinds of power arrangements, and many more but at the end of the day it is very possible.

If you're seriously considering this "United States of Africa" as its own sovereign state, you might need to get real, get a map, and read a book.

An economic union would certainly be more realistic, but there's too much instability at the moment for that idea to even seem plausible right now.

nonsense. If African countries can't even tame their irresponsible leaders/militaries and put a stop to all the tribalism then how will it unite as one bloc? What would be the economic benefits of it? What about political? I think African countries need to get their acts together first and try to improve the quality of living in their countries before looking to create a unified continental union. Besides, isn't there already one called the AFRICAN UNION? What has it done for Africa? Somalia is still lawless, South Africa still has the world's highest crime rates, Kenya still has corrupt politicans, NIGERIA still produces far smaller energy than SA, DR Congo (can't even get started on them) is still a mess, Mugabe is still ruling Zimbabwe, ETC ETC ETC ETC ETC!! Regional blocs such as ECOWAS would possibly be better then gradually head for a continential union.

To list some of the strides Africa has made:
- many countries have some of the world's fastest growing economies (Angola, Ghana, Liberia, DR Congo, Botswana) w/ countries such as Tanzania possibly joining the group of fast growing economies
- Political stability seems to be occuring in multiple countries
- filled with vast amount of resources (and cheap labor which promotes development of industry which ALL countries need when first developing)
- economic growth on the continent as a whole is much faster than the developed world and even Asia I think
- 2010-2020 WILL BE THE AFRICAN DECADE
