It is now crystal clear that Yar' Adua is no different from the mediocroitic, never -do-well leaders we have had in the past. Even if he is not anti-soludo how come he allowed laws that had no hands nor legs to divide his government to a point of standstill?
Yar'Adua is surely too dull to lead us. His leiutnants strife power from him , he is a absentee president and a toal, indespicable FALIURE!
Re: Yar' Adua A Faliure! by Tonim(f): 4:42pm On May 07, 2008
I agree with you, but people don't quite get it yet. People are still embracing him because he is attempting to correct the wrongs of his
predecessor and uphold the rule of law, but fail to acknowledge the fact that he is bereft of ideas and is just not fit for the job.
Re: Yar' Adua A Faliure! by Encomium(m): 6:31pm On May 07, 2008
Yar'adua is indeed a total failure as far as governance is concerned. He lacks the charisma to lead this great country called Nigeria. All his policies are of sick mind and equally the continuation of Obasanjo rule. PDP as a party should be dissolved since they all lacked vision likewise direction.

At least it took OBJ 8 years. This one spends most of his time in Germany. In less than 1 year his "sweet wind" babes have abandoned him. tongue

There is a saying that ' How Sunday will look like saturday will usually give you an indication'

President Yar A'dull in my opinion will propably not achieve much because he is not a leader and even if we give him the benefits of doubt he has not communicated his vision and how he intends to achieve it.

To have a speechwriter or other surrogate doing things for you is not the same as what you intend to do yourselves.

I like well meaning Nigerians, I want him so succeed for the sake of our beloved country.

However, part of the reason he may not suceed is that he didn't understand the magnitude of the challenges facing Nigerians.

All these rule of law and due process is simply a glorified 'I have no idea' tactics that has failed in the past and will fail anyday anytime.

Just to give you an idea of why I personally think he is a joker.

His government will be 12 months by 29th May 2008 in less than 3 weeks and he is yet to declare emergency on power/electricity.

I have said it befeore and I will say it again. It is either our First graduate President don't know the meaning of emergency or outrigthly lieing to Nigerians during his election campaign about declaring emergency on Power. I will leave others to Judge.

You can carry out all amount public hearings but you have to give the country proper indications when all these things will happen.

I am one of those that beleives that we need 50,000 MW of electricity and it will cost $50B and can be carried out over 5years at 20% per year. let us asume less say 20,000MW we can do the same arithmetics.

So, until one major aspect of National infrastutures is addressed and fixed , it a complete joke in my opinion. Electricity will power our economy and can grow astronomically well over 1000%.

Think about what the banking consolidation has done for Nigeria which is even not as important as power.

I rest my case.

the man is clueless jare. a gov that could not put his states allocation to good use but would rather leave the money lying in the bank. what do u expect. anyway we may need to take solace in the fact that he will leave money in the bank for his predecessor. lmao

UBA $15 million Fine:How Charles Soludo Laundered CBN/AFC funds through the UBA New York Branch

Saharareporters, New York

Saharareporters has confirmed from US government investigators that the United Bank of Africa (UBA), was fined $15 million for failure to report suspicious transactions to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) due to huge money transfers from the Central Bank of Nigeria.

The penalty against the New York Branch of United Bank for Africa, PLC for violations of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) was as a result of the deposit made by Charles Soludo, the current governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria into the accounts of the UBA branch in New York.

“The money was assessed to be close to $300 million”, according to one of the investigators who spoke anonymously to Saharareporters. Sources told our reporters the money was used in short term investments in New York for businesses that were unrelated with that of the stated mission of AFC and the proceeds might have gone into private bank accounts.

Further inquiries shows that the transaction came directly from the Central bank account of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) of which Soludo is Chairman while Tony Elumelu , the managing director of the United bank of Africa is a director. Other directors of the African Finance Corporation (AFC) include major bank CEOs and Nigeria’s so-called “economic prime movers” that benefited largely from financial scams packaged as “economic reforms” by the Obasanjo regime.

Charles Soludo, Tony Elumelu (UBA), Jim Ovia (Zenith), Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola and Cecilia Ibru are all directors of the board of the African Finance Corporation (AFC). These banks are supposed to be under the supervision of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Two days ago the US authorities announced the assessment of concurrent civil money penalties of $15 million, against the New York Branch of United Bank for Africa, PLC for violations of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA). The UBA has already made a single payment of $15 million to the US. Department of the Treasury.

In what appears to be a continuation of trouble for the UBA branch in New York, US authorities told Saharareporters that they have detected another suspicious transaction of $200 million into the UBA New York branch account in March 2008, the monies were traced to the CBN /AFC account in Nigeria.

In July 2007 the UBA entered into an agreement with the US Department of Justice to settle civil and criminal liabilities of money laundering of fraud proceeds discovered between 2000 and 2004 through accounts held at UBA, including that of a company named Zamora.

US authorities told Saharareporters that the recent fines by the OCC and FinCEN are totally unrelated to the July 2007 agreement with the US department of Justice in which the UBA also forfeited $5 million. The July 2007 settlement did not preclude possible criminal prosecution of UBA for tax evasion.

I wonder why the EFCC is not after this?  Or is Yaradua sleeping?  When he could easily catch "Etteh and Grange"!

God bless the USA for exposing this story.  We would never have heard it!  See Hi-tech 419. When we do not have light and water in 100% around Nigeria.

See your famous millionaire "Dangote" inside there too? grin See Nigerian big boys that will not let anyone pass on the same street with them.

"Even some of my relations dey inside the list too"

419 nation!

UBA has a branch in New York to legitimize "money laundering"!

Wonderful!

IS YARADUA SLEEPING I ASK? Is it from Germany he intends to investigate this?

Who owns Zamora? grin

the problem in nigeria isn't the president, it's the legislature. nigeria would be smoother if we have an effective legislative branch. nigerians complain about who their president is, but our problem wouldn't be huge if we cared who was elected as our representative in the senate or house assembly. did u expect yar'adua to come into power and raise a magic wand. no i'm not a yar'adua supporter.

You know the funniest thing ? There are rumors in the press that Yar'Adua is going to reshuffle his cabinet;
a minster is going to be laid off for "non-performance" undecided

A non-performer firing someone for non-performance !! God bless our country grin

agree with you, its total system failure, people wonder why he is bleeping rule of law rule of law but on daily basis many people don't follow the rule of law! I think if people follow the basics then things will actually improve!

i think the EFCC investigates mainly based on petitions and evidence-you can catch the likes of ettech and grange easily because one disgruntled members that did all the runnings will get only N25k when he is cashing millions on a daily basis, white collar crime is a bit more sophisticated wink

I don't think the AFC is involved in a illegal dealing at this point though

isn't AFC supposed to be an African thing why are all or majority of the board members nigerian and their investment focus is mainly nigeria, what happened to ADB?

Well, to be fair. We should wait for the Yaradua evangelists to show up and explain things better. I mean they seem to have inside information on him that majority of Nigerians, do not.

sorry u are all late to school. i have said earlier in his administration that this gentle man has nothing to offer yet some of us here were shouting; give him some time.
we have all the time in the world to give him provided he is not going to ask for third term.
a man with vission to be a president must have set aside his programmes for us not a case of give him time.
will going to germany solve our problems?
the truth of this matter is obj is completing his third term agenda through the shadow we call yar adua.
one year gone and three left.
how many of this so called probes will be fruitful at the end of the day? God SAVE us
Re: Yar' Adua A Faliure! by Frizy(m): 9:26am On May 11, 2008
I remember the president Yar'Adua's speech on TV when he first became president. He frequently talked about the economy-2020. Whenever he says something, he will say "I will work on the economy. . . the economy. . . Mr.President do you. . .?The economy.
But I don't think the economy will be anything better if Nigeria is still sleeping. embarassed. All what the politicians want is money, money without a reasonble cause. Africans sha!

Re: Yar' Adua A Faliure! by Topsido(m): 4:31pm On May 13, 2008
Thanks for the replies. indeed the nairalnders have spoken, Yaradull has no charisma to lead an enormously problematic and challenging country like Nigeria. He is not even fit to pastor my home church. i mean it. the yeye man should go and away jare!
