No matter how altruistic you feel, there is a reason why this place is a Military/Security Service thread.

Faithful007:

I get this page is about military but I wasn't really thinking about influence though.

I don't see any significant parallels between Nigeria and UK besides English. If any country were to be UK, it could be Mauritius (Again to a certain extent).
Mauritius is a special case, it's a small island country with no say.

Small island countries are dependent upon geopolitics for their situation and not on their own. They can extreme poor like Haiti or extreme rich like Singapore.
Faithful007:

I was looking at internal factors like this:

SA/US: Developed/diversified economy, Strong Democracy, Blue_red and Racial politics, Economic Inequality, Privatisation, Wokeness, Right to bear arms, etc.

NG/India: Developing economy, Population, Emmigration/Strong Diaspora, Convoluted politics, Religous and Tribal tension, Social Inequality, Vibrance, Pride/Quasi-patriotism, Worship of the elite etc.
Your comparisons are horribly factually incorrect in any context be it comparison between differences in Nig and IND vs SA and US or direct facts.

1. Gap between India and US of income is over 25 times. Levels of SA and Nigeria in development is similar and both are far far behind US or India.

2. SA is far from being a developed country. Except per capita income and few cities (because of white population), SA is abysmally behind India in all development indicators, innovation index, IHDI and so forth. And the way India is growing and SA economy is collapsing, India will thrice as rich as SA by end of this decade.

3. SA is a not a diverisfied economy. US and India are highly diversified industrial economies. Reference their industrial sectors, innovation index, USPTO rankings and economic complexity index.

4. Economic Inequality: SA (Gini 63.0) has most Inequality, much more than India (Gini 35.7) and US (Gini 39.4).

5. Private sector: India's private sector in a month produces more than what is SA's GDP. US is in a different league. India is world's largest pool of startups with a 100 unicorns (start ups crossing 1 billion dollars revenue) and world's third largest FDI receipent. SA's private sector here is not even nut sized.

5. Wokeness: India is the only stable democracy of world with no civil wars, military rule, same sex rights and again, woke movement too has much longer.

6. Right to bear arms: That's a sign of lawlessness if SA takes pride in it.

I do not have to talk about space, scientific research, nuclear & aviation.
Second one

1. Developing economy: Nigeria is a Developing economy, India is a newly industrialized country.

2. Strong Diaspora: Indian Diaspora is not comparable to Nigerian Diaspora. I will remain silent on what Indian Diaspora does in other countries vs what Nigerian Diaspora does or I will look like racist.

3. Every democracy has Convoluted politics. Difference is Nigerian politics has brought civil wars and military rules. Indian politics most long lasting democracy in developing world with only 6 prime ministers ruling country for most history, a western style industrial system, and a system which ranks in line with best democracies in world.

4. Religious and Tribal tension: I won't repeat again. In India, communities do not clash daily. What happens daily in Nigeria would be called civil war in India. Just compare rankings of two countries in fragile stated index.

5. Worship of elite: Utter bullshit coming from you.

There is a no similarity and every country is specific on its own. China, India are Southeast Asian countries and highly industrialized developing countries at levels of developed world and will replace them soon. You cannot compare those to Africa where basic first industrial revolution has not properly started.

Nigeria and South Africa share no similarity with them just because a disgruntled BBC employee loves to yell at India.

Except there's not much difference between the UK(15) and US(20) on the Development Index.
Nigeria and SA, on the other hand, is a totally different matter, as the attached pic attests.

As for regional influence, I would think SA being the main trading partner for all her neighbours, plus the direct disbursements under the Southern African Customs Union, affords her some influence.
Compare Inequality adjusted HDI. Gap will be down. Nigeria and SA are much similar on other developing indicators.

And again, US is a global trader, India is an inter regional trader.
SA is a regional trader and Nigeria is nowhere.

How much of Nigeria's influence in ECOWAS and in Africa as a whole do you know?
How much impact ECOWAS does make on its members' fate, global politics or even African politics LOL?

Africa is still ran by foreign politics, ECOWAS is a western tool.

Not my figures. But I've just checked, they're accurate. Important to note that the list only looks at domestic/income taxes, without customs, excise, royalties etc.
The KRA shows revenue of KES1,4 trillion on domestic taxes. That's what, USD7,5 billion?
No, at current exchange rate, Kes 1.4 Trillion domestic tax is $10.5 Billion.

I’ve been thinking. If the Nigerian army starts operating the MD-500 attack helicopters for air support, what would the Nigerian airforce need the AH-1Z and T-129 Atak for…?? The same scenario also exists in the Armed Forces of India. The Army and Airforce operates attack helicopters.
The AH-1z and T-129 are much heavier and may require special equipment to rearm and thus may need a military base to go back to after providing CAS, while the M500 can practically be run, repaired, and maintained in the frontline.

Back when Kenya army entered Somalia, the MD500s practically stayed within FOB's with no infrastructure and could respond in a moment's notice to attacks. When the helos ran out ammo they would land in the bush and get re-supplied by a jeep with the troops who it was providing CAS for.

Soon we would be told how we dropped further to 8th place and climbed back to 5th place grin They’d make it look normal just like we are being told now with the Dollar against the Naira that was under 200 NGN to 1$ now above 1200 NGN to 1$ in 9 years of the misruling APC. But of course praised as an achievement by hired propagandists. What the abused children don’t ask is the quid-pro-quo going on, someone benefits — yes not them — at the expense of the people of course which is what round tripping of the Dollar does by the elements in power.

Can someone imagine what our Armed Forces would be like if the right man is in power. By now we might be talking of a German or Chinese built multipurpose Frigates, Corvettes and what I consider the most powerful weapon built by man deadly Submarines. Who would mess with us!

Gush I hate mediocrity.

Pretty much almost all African econmies have been hit pretty hard. You lot need to get rid of these Right Wing populist fools.

AK Alpha is only used by DHQ Special Forces. That unit doesn't have a lot of members.

The T5000 is still used as well as this one produced by IWI.

There's no golden rule for military equipment.

What advantage will this provide us over the current capabilities we have, especially when we already have a Squadron of A-29 Super Tucanos?

Nope, the Nigerian airforce doesn’t need this. it’s outdated, it is not multipurpose, it can only carry out ground attacks. Cost of maintenance is expensive. There will be a lot of restrictions on when, where and how the Nigerian Airforce can use it if purchased.
24 M346-FA jets will be delivered to the airforce soon, they can make do with that and the Tucanos on ground. Even the US is not willing to sell them

The advantages are enormous.

The most remarkable advantage of the Warthog is that the cockpit is protected by titanium aircraft armour so it has the ability to survive under intense ground fire compared to the Tucanos hence increases safety of pilot and flight control instruments.

It carries a 30 mm Gatlin gun and it is the heaviest automatic cannon ever mounted on an aircraft which means the Warthog has superior firepower compared to the Tucanos

The Warthog has a munitions payload capacity of over 7000kg the A-29 a munitions capacity of 1550 kg which means it has the ability to carry different types of armaments compared to the Tucano

The Warthog is also faster than the Super Tucanos as it has a maximum speed of 706km/h,the Super Tucanos have a maximum speed of 590km/h

The idea of it been outdated is a joke on you, have u ever heard of the word upgrades,The Abrams MBT was produced in the 1980,s just like this airframe produced in the 1970s and the Abrams is still in use in Ukraine as i type this, the reason it is been decommissioned is because it is been replaced by the F-35 Lightning multirole jets, the cost of maintenace is low perhaps lower than the super Tucano at just 20kUSD per flight hour,it is clearly stated in my prior statement that is would be a game changer in counter insurgency operations, never said its multi purpose....(or do insurgents in Nigeria now have superior airpower?)if it is to be decommisioned then the US would be willing to sell a few to willing nations of course,in the case on Nigeria,we have genocidal cases against the military however with some diplomatic intervention we should be able to get it.

2. Excluding small island nations SA is the most developed African nation, it's also considered a NIC, Also SA is ahead of India wrt to Global innovation index, above India in terms of Quality of infrastructure index, above in HDI, above in LPI...should I go on?

3.Did you do any research at all before typing this? SA is not that far behind India in terms of diversification and ranks 42nd in the world
