Uniform Year End For All Nigerian Banks, Is It Good For Capital Market by Gettolove(m): 2:16pm On Jun 30, 2008
Recently the apex bank announced the adoption of 31st december as the reporting date for our banks. There are a lots of concerns in different quarters following the new policy. If the rules still remain what it is, it therefore means that all banks would have to report before the end of April, thereby taking its tolls on the capital market because all other companies listed on the exchange transact business with one bank or the other.

This will also have a grave impact on the capital market because banks will definately want to make the faces of their financials look robust in anticipation of their A.G.Ms.

A good example is the unofficial suspension of margin trading by the CBN which is one of the factors responsible for the current downturn in the capital market.

I want us to look at the possible effects of this new year end on the entire stocks listed on the NSE
