Grand theft auto is an open world, action-adventure, role playing, crime game developed and published by rockstar games. Gta was first released in October 1997 and the latest is Gta V (released 17th September 2013). The gameplay focuses on an open world where the player can choose missions to progress on an overall story, as well as engaging in side activities, all consisting of action-adventure, driving, third-person shooting, role playing, stealth and racing elements. Though the subject of the game is usually a comedic satire of American culture (according to Wikipedia) but it's entire series has gained controversy for its adult nature and violent themes. According to Cheryl Olson, a health specialist at Harvard, 28 percent of boys and 5 percent of girls strongly agree that liking guns and other weapons motivates their gameplay. A video in youtube stated that Gta V is supporting or supports violence against women and encourages racism. Alot has been said about this game and its genre. These game involves car chase, robbery, snatching, snitching, stealing, pole dancing, violent themes, explicit languages, realistic blood splatter on camera lens, urban dystopia of gunfights. Now am not going to sound like Jack Thompson or foster these games. Does this game promote aggression and influence children? The topic is a question, what do you say? No I don't think so mehn considering the type of society we live in and our cultures and norms, I doubt it affects nigerians negatively although I suspect the case in the long run due to socialisation. Although I have noticed some psychological effects in the sense that since I started playing video games in 2002 , I have been easily angered though I'm not sure if this has to do with my surroundings, personality or an unknown effect from video games in general 1 Like |

i can boastfully say it does not promote violence in Africa. See the major factor behind violence in this part of the world considering all factors such as education,literacy,exposure,socialization etc. is the goverment,most violent acts in Nigeria for example are been political fired "which i belive most of them would say its just for a moment but at the end it grows out of hand". take for example firearms,how many youth can afford to get an ak47,let us be realistic,most arms are been given to these youth by political leaders for their own evil agenda and there after they don't even bother to take account of the arms already in circulation again. one thing i know about Africa is that we have culture and goes a long way in education and beliefs we hold. Now on the other hand games like GTA has a lot of negative influence on youths in developed countries like the US unfortunately for countries like that they legalize possession of firearms in other words even if i don't have a firearm but my dad has 1 all i have to do is to just pick up his rifle and go ahead joy spreeing an entire classroom just because i was depressed. their inventions and commitments over there seems to values life but some of the things they do for luxury e.g media,games etc promotes violence. 2 Likes |

Been playing GTAV for like the last 3 weeks (During the weekends), and I must say it one hell of a game! Fully immersive, great graphics and animation and killer action sequences. Let not forget about all the cool jamz on "Radio Los Santos" and other "radio stations" throughout the game. If you have a ps3, you need to be playing GTAV. The Only nagative is that I hv not hung out with my girlfriend in 3 weeks  7 Likes |

Abeg o gamers. I use a mini pc that has no cd rom so i copied GTA vc from a padi lappy buh when i moved it to my pc d buh game no play o instead it would show a comand prompt. Abeg what should i do ASAP |

It does in some sense, Sometimes i feel like driving against traffic like i do in GTA. Lots of times if i see someone messing up by the side of the road i feel like stopping and giving the person a hard blow to the face and when i see a police vehicle i feel like scratching them so that they would give me a hot chase like i do in GTA. By the way when there is nothing to do for a day, try GTA you wont even know when 8:00PM will nack. Warning: Don't play this game when your GF is around unless you want make she hate you for not listening to her. Is addictive and Sweet. With GTA there aint a boring moment 2 Likes |

IMO, it doesn't. If it does, everybody around me woulda been dead by now, and every car destroyed. I loveeeee that game. Especially the part where I have to kill people in the street and zoom off at the sight of the police. That game is fun...  1 Like |
