HIV is the virus,AIDS is the disease.When a person has HIV,he/she is just a carrier of the virus at the infective stage.During this phase,there are no symptoms.But when the infection progresses and the immune system is overpowered by the virus,it progresses to AIDS which is simply a collection of various infections and diseases which are uncommon in a normal healthy human.At this stage,there are many symptoms which could last for a very long time.....even till death.I hope u're clear abt it now....

The initial stages can vary. Some experience nite sweats loss of appetite. mild fever nd a low key rash that might appear at different parts of your body. While some just feel general malaise or a cold that seem not to be going anywhere. If you are experiencing any of the above why not get tested. Early testing can save your life. With medication. eating healthy. Lots of fruits excercise nd a positive mind set, u will see that HIV is not a death sentence.

The bolded above is not true. Few days to few weeks after infection with the virus, some individuals will experience some of the symptoms iceni described above (low grade fever, weakness, etc). Technically its referred to as acute primary illness or seroconversion illness (because it occurs prior to seroconversion).

Note that the individual is yet to develop AIDS while experiencing the symptoms

5months? that would be very unusual.

Typically the primary illness lasts just a few weeks, just before the immune system kicks in. Moreover at 5months, a simple HIV rapid test would surely reveal if the person is positive or not.

I would strongly recommend the person get tested as soon as possible.
