The academic war between Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko [AAUA] in Ondo State and its striking lecturers has deepened following a report that the Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Femi Mimiko has commenced recruitment of new lecturers to replace the striking lecturers, having refused to pull out of the ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities’ [ASUU] strike.

DailyPost has gathered that Prof. Mimiko remains resolute about his decision to re-open the university on December 2, after he had ordered the students to resume this Monday for the commencement of the second term semester programme.

But the Chairman of ASUU in the institution, Dr. Busuyi Mekusi has described the move by the management as illegal.

He has vowed that the union would resist any action by the Vice-Chancellor to illegally recruit new workers to replace the striking lecturers.

Now we have a VC that want to stand against the high handedness of ASUU, He should open a register,anybody that refuses to resume should be issued query and subsequently be sacked. Placed adverts for vacancies and fill as many positions as possible especially the one's occupied by ASUU excos, so many lecturers will fall in line.

But why is the VC suddenly in a desperate move to resume at this moment of the year.

Whats "illegal" about employing new lecturers when we all know that there is a dearth of professional lecturers in our higher institutions ? Thats why i love the way Amaechi dealt with those ASUU idiots in rsust and now they're completely sane

Seems u don't know that xmas break for most federal schools or state schools isn't always more than a week, some students don't go home for the break sef.

ASUU has really made a mess of the whole thing,they should have called off the strike,when ovation was loudest,now the rug has been pulled over them. Desperate move for desperate situation. Woe unto ASUU.
