Q&a: Why Airtel's BB Subscription Would Stop Working On Other Devices By 3rd Dec by kayswag100(m): 6:03pm On Dec 01, 2013
Hello folks!

I've Seen alot of ranting and irateness about bb plans not working on Android from 3RD DECEMBER. Thot I should create this thread (as a back end staff) to clear doubts and possibly answer questions (and hopefully not get insulted) on matter at hand

A typical Airtel prepaid line has 1 main account and 10 dedicated accounts. (access dedicated accounts by dialing *123*123#).

Now, these 10 accounts manage several transactions such as free sms, free on net calls, etc. I'd talk about dedicated accounts 9 and 10(which is why we won't be able to use bb plans as hotspot or on other devices).

Before now, bb subscriptions and regular data plans were managed by dedicated account 10. This is why we could use subscription on Android et al.

From 3rd December, all legacy bb subscriptions would be moved to dedicated account 9. This account is programmed to work ONLY if the system detects a bb phone being used by subscribers(don't ask how we'd know. We've got apps ppl!!!). dedicated account 10 would then only house regular data subscriptions. This is how simplified I can put it.

Those teling others to activate bb plan then override with 10mb, stop misleading ppl. These would just be seperated into different dedicated accounts 9 and 10 so when you exhaust 10mb, you so won't b able to continue on bb subscription (the way it was before. ..)

good news though: those that activated before 3rd can use their subscriptions therafter; till subscription expires. So no need to waste your respective mbs, gbs and tbs.

thinking this would reduce subscriber base? I laugh. Please check up 'LIABILITIES & ASSETS'

one question is: WILL THIS BAN ACTUALLY TAKE EFFECT FROM 3RD DECEMBER? Let's wait and see! !

EOD!!

Please note that all views expressed here are mine and not Airtel's. I'm just giving info as an insider! !

FOR BB BUNDLE USERS on bb phones (especially those that subscribed from 3rd onwards)THAT ARE HAVING ISSUES CONNECTING, Please do a hard reset immediately.

so what you're saying is that it's actually wise to load up one's line now with more gb before the ban? Are you sure? cos if it's true i don't mind loading 6k on my line and subscribing to get 12 gig?

sure. Thank me later. wink.

For you that is forecasting Airtel's downfall? pls tell me. Where has MTN fallen to? they still rake in billions monthly! Airtel's won't be an exeption. Don't you think a survey would have been done before this ban?

i ve got friends and family this would affect too.

two words: move on!!!!

The difference is, a lot of ppl keep MTN as their main lines... & Airtel is just a secondary line used for gaining access to the internet...

I don't think I've made any calls with my Airtel sim is the past 3 yrs... & its not just me....

'somebody go dance for market them give am money, another person try, na beating him receive'

...& why exactly re bb subscriptions being moved to a different a account...is it cause MTN did it too...

do not underestimate the effect dissatisfied customers launching a campaign on social media have... companies like RIM, now BlackBerry made such mistakes...

my thought exactly, they probably did not know that most airtel subscribers only used airtel for surfing the internet while having a main sim from another network.
Nothing in the Ops explanations to justify this, since their bis is not unlimited.

I hate this guy's guts! He talked as if he owned Nigeria! Sheer arrogance and loads of disrespect to those whose monies pay your salary! Any fault of urs? Nay! We have an insensitive government in this country so, network providers like Airtel and others can choose to hold subscribers in servitude. If not, this charlatan in the garb of a lousy customer care agent wouldn't have come here to insult the sensibilities of multitudes of subscribers just because he can speak some grammar. He bluffed too much for my liking! U claimed u did ur survey or whatever before coming out with this obnoxious transfer and u concluded it wasn't going to have any negative effects on ur subscriber base! How naive and be clouded ur sense of reasoning are! You tried, albeit in an infantile fashion, to compare ur moribund Airtel to MTN that has remained so stable and has stood the test of time. Recall how many times Airtel had been sold over each time with a change of name and yet it's still struggling to survive? I don't and won't ever use Airtel sim for anything. For ur information, the worst MTN signal is better than the best Airtel signal and so it is all over the country. A yoruba adage will say "A nroju j'eko obun, obun tun nda eko e kere" meaning we are forcing ourselves to eat the pap made by a dirty woman, yet, she makes it expensive! If truly u are a CCA, then you are a bad one and a good example of how not to be a CCA. Pple like u will bring misfortune to the organisations u represent because u don't know how to appeal to the sensibilities of subscribers who indirectly put food on ur table. If Airtel is sold again, you are doomed!

....u claimed u did want to be insulted, yet u insulted us when u called the legitimate complaints of a people "rantings and irateness". Violence begets violence, and insult too is reciprocal. A good back end staff which u laid claim to should have a good sense of dousing tension and calming frayed nerves, not a garrulous, boisterous and reckless type like u. Let's wait and see what happens to Airtel in the months to come. Back end staff my foot!

my dear friend, I'm far from being a cc agent. Dat was 4 yrs ago. I'm sure you learnt something sha. lol!!

arrogance? NaaaĆ aaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! !! Just being factual. Did nt you read that I said this affects me on a way too? learn to be pragmatic and not hypothetical. if you do something, it doesn't mean others are doing same. didnt you do gst 102? I laughed when I saw a thread telling ppl to switch off their phones. This would only make data network faster.

Sorry to use this allegory. is a thief deservedly meant to be dissatisfied when the house owner secures his house? these bb plans on other devices were never formal and happened due to a network glitch.

know this fact: there are more bb subscribers on actual bb than there are on other devices.

As I said before, move on! !

you're on 1sim package. The bonus doesn't last forever. The bonuses are shared into dedicated accounts 6 and 7. One for weekend, other for weekdays which is valid for 7 days.

use or lose!!!

kayswag100 you might be right in defending Airtel's philosophy for the ban but you are damn wrong in your approach doing so. You're actually very rude and if any of your bosses were to identify you on this thread they would probably objectively fine/suspend/discipline you.

You potray your organization in bad light. Where are your manners man?

Forget work sef, think about your own personal development; we can't move Nigeria forward with this kind of zero customer service attitude.

If you like, ignore this or curse out again na your own cup of tea. Na you dey make your bed, na you go lye on top am.

Please I want to confirm from you from what you said about the aftermath blocking for those that subscribed before the blocking date, is it not going to affect them?

Secondly, nothing just happened in this life there must be a prime mover. I have a friend in America(He is from the same community with me), and he has been telling me about how browsing services is very reliable.
He said that on how you subscribed to a network, no matter the type of device you use the sim inside, or the amount of data u downloaded, not exhausting. But here in Nigeria, just ordinary BB subscription we were using you people have came up with the foolish idea of blocking it.

But I bet you, Airtel must surely regret this reckless decision.
Maybe I will switch over to MTN, the PDP of networks

Yes boss!! That plan goes to your dedicated account 8. it's used ONLY for bbm (what we all call 'pinging')on Android and iOS.

just like the Whatsapp and FB bundle that can't be use for any other thing exept Whatsapp and Facebook through their respective applications.
