While the budget of other south east states shrank for the 2014 fiscal year, that of Anambra increased by 20%! Check this out. IMO STATE The Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has presented to the State Assembly the 2014 Budget of the state tagged “Budget of Consolidating Rescue” The budget which he described as realistic and balanced amounts to N137,026,528,434 [one hundred and thirty seven, twenty-six billion, five hundred and twenty eighty thousand, four hundred and thirty four Naira] only as against N194,142,120,869 of 2013. http://www.spyghana.com/governor-okorocha-presents-2014-budget-to-the-state-house-assembly/ This same man presented the figure below as 2013 budget OWERRI—Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has presented a budget proposal of N197,743,684,031 to the state House of Assembly for the 2013 fiscal year. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/12/okorocha-presents-2013-budget-to-assembly/ Can Someone please explain the sudden decline? While other states are consolidating, others are shrinking. Ebonyi dissapointed me the most(considering the fact that the Gov't has the highest IGR in the SE). Just take a look. EBONYI STATE. Gov. Martin Elechi of Ebonyi on Monday presented the 2014 budget of N99.8 billion to the state house of assembly. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the budget tagged “Budget of Stabilisation” is 4.45 per cent lower than the N104.3 billion budgeted in 2013! This is shameful ! Enugu's budget wasnt too impressive either. Now let's look @ Obi's budget; [color=#009900] Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi, Tuesday presented a budget of N110.8 billion to the state House of Assembly for the 2013 fiscal year. Fast forward to 2014 Governor Peter Obi today presented the Anambra budget for the fiscal year 2014 valued at N140 billion. This happens to be his last and final budget as governor. Presenting the budget, Governor Obi said the result-based budget of consolidation reflected the critical development needs of Anambra State as expressed in the key sectors of the State Economy. The budget reflects an overall increase of 20% from the FY 2012 budget Although i dislike obi for his preference for Cheap works(aka mediocre projects) i still think he is being ''pound wise penny foolish'' unlike other Governors who do nothing than borrow money to paint roads and plant flowers! Indebting their states with no tangible project to show for it! Obi made me proud today! 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Singing Osita Osadebe's "Onu kwuli njo ga ekwu nma". I have said it before and I will keep saying it, Obi is the best performing governor in Nigeria, for the past eight yrs. There has been recorded improvements in all sectors of the state economy. He has holistically worked all sector and is on the brink of achieving the millenium developmental goals. I encourage the flower planter to keep planting, painters keep painting and road sweepers keep sweeping while Omanbala builds the strongest economy in Nigeria. Call Obi names and ridicule him all you want but there is nothing you can do to a person who God has blessed. People talk all the trash they they like during the election but Obi once again put shame in their faces. We know who are the true Omanbalas and their traits puts them off. Op,your observation and extoling of Obi isn't needed. We know where you belong. Go to that Enugu thread and keep praising Chime for his flowering and painting skills. Anambra is where men are born! 7 Likes |

@OP Ebonyi does not have more IGR than Anambra and will never have. Gov Elechi is honest to display what the state earns while some crooks preferred to classify and pocket the better part of Anambra IGR. Don't be fooled please |

This is the most ignorant thread ve ever seen on nairaland. lol. The drop in these figures I guess is due to drop in FG allocation to states as can also be seen in the drop in FG budget this year from last one. The op should be worried obi is entering his last phase of aggressive looting with this budget. Has he ever shown anything for previous budgets. |

dayokanu: What was Anambra the biggest economy in Iboland doing with those peanut budgets in the first place yes it could be a peanut budget for you and your clown folks but to the people the positive impacts are always there. Your arrogant and foolish governors will budget trillions and shared it between godfathers and media purchase from Tinubu to AIT to Silverbird to Punch to Thisday yet most of your folks are abyssimally poor to compare with Obi's peanut budget citizens. Get a life and stop being decieved by we are the "most" and "first" delusion of granduer. |

I tried to look at the details of the Anambra budget just to be sure but unfortunately, there are contradictions in what was posted by various media organisations. Here is how Punch reported the Anambra 2014 budget: Sincere 9gerian:And here is how Vanguard reported the same budget Sincere 9gerian:Now Punch says recurrent expenditure is N100 billion while Vanguard put the recurrent expenditure at N39 billion. So which report is right? Again, if the projected revenue according to the budget is N58 billion, how does the govt hope to make it up to the N140 billion total budget? |

Sincere 9gerian: I tried to look at the details of the Anambra budget just to be sure but unfortunately, there are contradictions in what was posted by various media organisations. you call yourself "sincere9gerian" but everything about you oozes bigotry, well your a reflection of your name rather because a saint in nigeria could pass for a criminal in Bangladesh,so for you to be sincere but a Nigerian is a story for another generation not ours. You hate people discusing Ogun state yet N11B out of N23B realized in the state was used to pay IGR consultants owned by who......? Mr man that APC govt of grand secrecy is killing your people 1 Like 1 Share |

The yardstick for measuring a good budget should be how good its implementation is, and not how huge the budget is. Take the FG for instance, its annual huge budgets have always been poorly implemented. I would rather be looking forward to seeing how well the implementation of this huge budget will be by the end of 2014, than clapping hands for a man that wouldn't be responsible for its dispensation. The newly elected governor will definitely show how good he his by making sure that it's not just another paper budget elsewhere in Nigeria. |
