Platini's plan to make a mockery of European football seems to be working and if he keeps this up the Euro's will be a joke i mean how can a continental tournament have 24 teams? There are only 53 countries in Europe of what use are the qualifiers then?

It's ridiculous - as someone mentioned above, there r only 53 countries in europe, so how will qualifiers go? do they even need qualifiers sef, or they'll follow Africa (hmmm, that sounds good to the ear ) & combine the euro & WC qualifiers? This came from the british isles obviously since none of the home countries qualified for the last euro.

on the ranking, england is the 12th team in europe.

16 teams go to european championships so it means england by default should be there.

if uefa expands the tournament to 24 teams, it has no direct influence to england's qualification.

ranking is not based on a rare display in tournaments. it is based on the overall performance of football teams and it works cumulatively.

had russia won euro 2008 and lost all their world cup qualifiers, they won't be in the top 5.

to stay on top, a team needs to keep winning(tournaments, qualifiers, friendlies and etc).

football ranking is cumulative(it does not hinge on the performance of russia in euro 2008)---they need to keep winning to stay afloat.

France missed 1994 but after that they have won 1998 world cup and 2000.

Italy missed 1992 after that they played 1994 finals, 2000 finals, won in 2006

Holland was asemi finalist in 2000, 1998, won Euro in 1988

Czech was a semi finalist in 2004.

Can you tell me any of England's achievement in recent times that can match any of these?
