Rotjijatau: The following are the things you must do when living in any compound you are living and your respect will remain high...

(1.) Don't be the borrowing type of neighbour, rather be the person whom your neighbours are borrowing from.
(2.) Prepare your light bill before the month end to avoid your neighbours saying you're the only person who haven't paid your bill.
(3.) Don't bring too many friends to your house.

(4.) Don't talk too much with your neighbours to avoid gossip.
(5.) Don't be the only person who is fund of using the toilet without flushing...... Please add yours!!!

WHy are you acting ignorant of the fact that alot of neighbourhoods in the low brow areas all over Nigeria have to shared the same Bathroom and Toilet and sometimes even Kitchen.

I feel ashamed of this one.. Especially cos my music seemed louder because though I had no generator and there was barely ever light, I always had music coming out of my room, so it pissed them off alot. Then I attributed it to player hating, now I realize it was very juvenile of me.

Now you've informed me, I won't be ignorant anymore. I didn't know neighbours shared the same lavatory shocked However I think the op means roommate as opposed to neighbours. I think neighbours live in a completely different house. Roommates live in the same house and share the same kitchen, bathroom etc..

Lol that's why I think the op means roommate. Neighbours live separately, not depending on things like toilet shocked

If you are a man, don't cross your boundary- stay away from your neighbor's or landlord's daughters or wives.

[b]Nope..

Neighbours.. A Compound housing about 20 different neighbours would all share a common Bath house, Toilet and sometimes Kitchen (In other cases, you cook in front of the entrance to your room.

In the morning, you queue according to first come, first serve to use these shared facilities. If you get running stomach, sorry.. You may have to plead with everyone ahead of you to allow you jump the queue under 'Emergency status'. grin

There is normally a Marshall that supervises the use of the toilet, the rules normally are; "No Water, No Access". If the Marshall isnt satisfied with the quantity or quality of the water you want to use in flushing the toilet, he has the right to deny you entrance.

Cleaning: SOme compounds either have a rooster where each tenant takes turns to clean these facilities or there is a flat fee for everyone that is used to employ cleaners.

#If you stay in Lagos, then you need to cross that bridge from the Island into the Mainland (in the direction of Mile 12, Ketu, Alapere, Surulere, Iyana Ipaja, Agege, Oshodi, Ajegunle, e.t.c) to see firsthand the hussle that many Lagosians have to put up with daily.

Don't run your generator in a manner that it inconveniences your neighbors. Get rechargeable fan, Inverter etc to support power outages.

If your a single lady, do not turn your house to a motel where all sorts of men visit, keep to one friend and the visit should be moderate, never allow a male friend pass the night in ur house please. Do not pook nose in peoples business, never gossip with anyone, keep to urself expecially about ur relationship- never tell it to a neighbour,
