Catholic Confessions And The Stuppidity Of God. by AlfaSeltzer(m): 9:11am On Jul 25, 2014
When I was a young catholic, I used to sin without consequence.
I was having sex every time knowing fully well it was a sin but not bothered because I knew I only had to go and tell the priest about it and my slate is wiped clean.
My girlfriend used to ask me if I had gone to confession and it was very reassuring for her to hear that our previous act has been absolved before we start again. Infact the only worry we had then is dying before our next confession and having to spend a few centuries in purgatory. Hell was not for us. grin
I am now beginning to wonder what type of all knowing god will keep forging a sin over and over again knowing fully well that you intend to keep sinning? It can only be a mugu god. If god was a bank manager, his bank would be broke because you just have to go back every week and take more loan with a promise that you will pay back but never do.
The catholic god is a god that encourages sin through confessions and the ease of forgiveness and the promise of purgatory.
So my people, if you must remain a xtian, be a catholic. You will enjoy this life better.

A misinformed Catholic, your sins don't get wiped out after confession, you only get total forgiveness when you stop sinning. I doubt if you do pay attention to the the priest and what he says after your confession.

He says, "I forgive you. go and pray the rosary ten times and sin no more."

The Church teaches that forgiveness doesn't come automatic and it doesn't begin and end with the priest. The priest can absolve one of his sins without the individual getting forgiveness from God.

Forgiveness begins with the penitent who MUST demonstrate true sorrow for the wrong done and have a firm commitment never to go back to a life of sin. Without those two conditions there is no forgiveness. The priest only completes what the penitent has begun.

By extension, the penitent has already received pardon from our Father in Heaven before he or she gets to the priest, though a confession to a priest is necessary in some cases but not in all. You don't get forgiveness if you have the intention to commit sin.

That is not wjat we were taught.
During cathecism, to encourage us to go for confession, the priests used to quote John 20:23. They insist that god through this passage gave them the authority to forgive sins. That one cannot be forgiven unless one confesses to them. I have never heard a catholic priest say that you are forgiven before confessing or that their forgiveness is not total and valid.

The Priest has authority to act in the person of Christ during confession and the passage you quoted is true for all time but it doesn't end there. Probably you were not in class when the lesson about true contrition on the part of the penitent was taught.

I have to agree with the catholic here.

When you confess, there is something called penance- you have to actually atone for your sins before forgiveness.

For instance, if you confess that you fought with someone, a priest would tell you to make amends with the person you fought with (and also your act of contrition and some hail marys)

Except you are free to fight that person another time knowing that another confession and penance would absolve you.

which part?
all parts especially when you said you would knowingly sin BECOS you know that you can get your sin wiped off when you go to a priest.

I think you made up all these stories so as to show (in your opinion) how ridiculous it is to think your sins are forgiven just by going to the priest.

It was a poor job done by you coming up with this story just to pass your message

It's possible the Catholic church you attend is different from the one we all know or maybe you didn't understand what you were taught.

If you are confessing with the intention willingly committing thesame sin again, you better go back home because you are simply wasting your time.

So never commit the same sin again after confessing? Who's being a hypocrite here?

Am sure you saw where I wrote "willingly" in my post.

Yes for you to be forgiven, you must make resolution not to willing commit thesame sin again.

this only shows you were a misinformed or/and uninformed catholic.

You can go to confession 100 times and you sin will remain with you a thousand times. Forgiveness doesn't begin in the confessional.

To actually be forgiven, you have to be,

1. Truly and sincerely sorry for you sins, contrition
2. Sincerely confess, confession
3. Be truly resolute not to sin again.
4. Contribute according to grace with good works, penance.

If any of the first 3 is missing then you have not received a sacrament, you have no received forgiveness or a blessing...depending on the case you may have commited sacrilege and you may have left the confessional witha curse instead of a blessing.

The bad use of a good thing is usually catatrophic, no wonder you are no longer a catholic, you wanted to play with God's mercy.

@OP,
I think you are not completely well informed about confession.

Confession is what you do after you have felt contrite and repented of your immorality. It is repentance that motivates confession. If you have the intention of going back to your sins and didn't resolve to walk in the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, then you didn't really feel contrite for your sins and real forgiveness is not obtainable, no matter the words of the priest. I believe that is taught during catechism.

It is true that, as humans, we may fall in sin even after a true confession, the most important thing is that we should not deliberately engage in [grave] sins, hoping that we would be forgiven by mere confession. That is not true! Only an irredeemably foolish person will continue to break his arm just because there is a doctor in the house!

Please go and get a book, titled, I think, "How to make a good confession." After reading the book, you will see how wrong you are. I think the book was written by a priest, and may be found in Christian bookstores.
