I'm Yoruba and Akwa Ibom (don't ask me how) but I can tell you from experience, Yoruba delicacies are delicious but no match for Niger Delta/Igbo delicacies. Trust me! Go to Uyo Le Meridien, order for afang, or edikaikong, fufu and palmwine my dear you'd lick your finger, elbow, and armpit from there no more going back. But don't go near those fair beautiful figure 8 ladies except you wish to say goodbye to your wife or girlfriend.

That's what most of them don't grab, they all mistaken normal vegetable soup with edikaikong soup, it's only in standard restaurants and hotels like 5star one can find edikaikong soup all what u ppl eat in an eatery is vegetable soup prepared with pumpkin leaf and water leaf
ideepaul: This is the most expensive and most difficult food to prepare in akwa ibom and cross river(can take more than 10000 for a family of more than 5)I am talking out of personal experience, 60 percent of people saying that they have eaten this soup don't know they ate Nkong soup(a soup with the same ingredients:fresh pumpkin leaves and water leaf, but easier preparation technique)... please nkong and edikanikong are not d same, its like comparing a self-contained with a duplex
just pray someone cooks this for you one day..your life won't be the same again.(maybe that is why corpers don't like returning home after service)
PROUDLY AN AKWA IBOM SON

I beg to differ! That edikanikong is such a delicacy. Add better goatmeat(he-goat)preferably,use yellow pepper and you'll bring the whole neighborhood to your doorstep.

babyosisi:

This one na just simple spinach soup

There is no spinach in the soup. The vegetables used are water leaf (momong ikong) and fluted pumpkin leaves (ikong ubong). If you improvise with any other vegetable, then it's not edikang ikong.
