In her dream, Jordan was kissing her. It sent butterflies at the bottom of her stomach. His big hand moved to her thigh and she shuddered
'Tara'
she heard her name. She moaned and he held tightly onto her. Her eyes flew open and she stared at her husband, she wasn't dreaming at all. She tried to concentrate but Jordan's arm seemed to be all over her body. Her thighs were bare, her nightie gathered at a pool around her waist. Tara struggled to cover herself. He held her hands.
'Relax my sweet, I've got alot to teach you'
'but, Jordan.. I'
He caught her short with a kiss.
'Don't hide yourself from me, I'm your husband. Now relax and let me work magic on you'
Tara tried to concentrate. Jordan was awaking some feelings she never knew existed. She returned his kiss passionately. What was wrong with she?
Jordan smiled when he made to get rid of her nightie and she made no protest. ' Now I got you my sweet', He said to himself.

it seemed Tara was not an early riser. Jordan felt wonderful. He grinned when he remembered what had happened between them last night. He gazed at his beautiful sleeping wife. Her head was resting on his chest. She burrowed closer to him. Jordan felt more than satisfied. His phone rang. It was his father. Jordan checked the time, it was already a quater past ten in the morning.
'Hello, goodmorning dad'
'goodmorning Jordan, are you still in bed?'
'yes'
'what about your wife?'
'she's sleeping. Whats wrong?'
'Jordan, are you asking me what's wrong? Do yo want to kill her?'
Jordan frowned, what did he do wrong?
'what did I do?'
'Jordan Nicholas, in my front is the daily gossip. Amanda brought it to me'
'Dad, I'm confuse'
'Well, in the gossips paper there are pictures of your wife looking very drunk and drench to her very skin. You were right beside her', Jordan Sighed
'Jordan, Tara isn't like your other women. She's your wife and inexperienced. For crying out loud Jordan, I don't care about the gossips. I do care about Tara. What if she catch a cold? And why are you feeding her alcohol?'
'Father, I have got everything under control. Tara is my responsibility and I'm more than capable of taking care of her'
Jordan was angry. He wasn't a child for his father to try teach him how to take care of his wife.
'Jordan, all I'm saying is that you should consider her health'
'father, I've got everything under control. Will call you later', He cut the call.
Tara opened her eyes, Jordan smiled at her.
'Finally, my sweet'
She realised she was unclad, then recalled everything. Oh God, she and Jordan had... She quickly turned to the other side of the bed. Jordan shifted closer to her.
'Did I hurt you?'
'No'
'Come on Tara, don't be timid. Whatever we do is right because we are married and I know you enjoyed it'
Tara nearly died of embarrassment, she touched her hair. What had happened to the beautiful lace wig she and Linda had fixed last week?
'your hair was a mess, I had to call a maid to remove it'
'And I slept through it all?'
He kissed her neck and moved up to her left ear.
'Don't worry, shall take you to make another one later in the day. Although, you are still beautiful like this'
Tara was about to leave the bed but halted when she remembered that she was unclad.
He smiled, Tara was funny. His phone began ringing, it was Henry. Jordan, never taking his hands off Tara picked the call.
'Henry for goodness sake I'm on my honeymoon. What do you want?'
'you and Tara are all over the gossip news'
'I Know that already. Father already called me'
'How is she taking it?'
'She doesn't know. Look, I'm busy now. Talk with you later'
'busy? Doing what?'
'I don't see it as any of your business'
Jordan fling the phone away. He got other things to do. Tara thanked God for the blanket over them but how could she walked to the bathroom with Jordan watching her every step? She had no choice but to accept the fact that being intimate with Jordan is wonderful. She felt his hands moving to her back and she shivered. At that moment, her phone began ringing.
'don't pick it'
Jordan said as he moved closer to her. She defiantly picked the call. It was Shan.
'Shan?'
'Tara, its mother, she... She... Oh God Tara'
Shan said admist tears. Tara sat up. This wasn't happening. Tears rolled down her cheeks.

Jordan saw her striken face. He retrieved the phone from her and spoke with Shan. After telling Shan to calm down, he promised to call her back immediately. Turning to Tara, he said,
'pack your things, we are going to Kaduna'.
He put a call through to Mr Peter Collins, the branch manager of their company in kaduna. He had ealiar requested his mother-in-law's home address from Tara. Mrs. Collins picked the call immediately.
'good morning sir'
'good morning Mr. Collins'
'congratulations sir, on your nuptials'
'thank you... I havd a personal favour to ask you'
'Anything foi you sir'
'It seemed that my mother-in-law suddenly collaps and there is no one with her except her twelve years old daughter. She needs medical attention and I will be forever grateful if you kindly drive over there immediately and help take her to the hnspital'
'There is no qualm sir, I will personally see to it'
Jordan quickly gave the home address Tara had given him to the man.
'my wife and I will be there in two hours'
Tara emerged from the bathroom. Modesty forgotten, and began dressing. Jordan put another call to Shan. He told her not to panic, help was coming soon. It seemed his mother-in-law doesn't keep friends and kept more to herself. No wonder, Shan was at a lost who to call but her far away sister. Jordan turned in time to see Tara already in a short straight dress. She immediately began packing her belongings into her box. While Tara packed, Jordan made a couple of calls to his mother, father and Henry. He explained to them all that had happened and why they would have to cut short their honeymoon.
After the calls, Jordan instructed her to pack his suitcase while he bath. Tara didn't even blinked an eye, she set to work immediately. The newly weds were already on their way to kaduna by 11: 30am. He drove in silence and Tara made no effort to break it. Mr Collins called to tell Jordan that Mrs Annabel has successfully been admitted at the St. Gerard hospital in Kakuri. Shan was with her.
Jordan thanked him and ended the call. He briefed Tara on the state of affairs. At kaduna, Jordan drove to the hospital. A nurse gave them the direction to Mrs Annabel's room. When Shan saw them, she ran to Tara and burst into tears. Tara tightly held unto Shan. When her eyes drifted to her mother, she began crying again.
'Jordan, is she in a coma?'
'I think so'
A doctor appeared at the door. He asked if they were related to the patient, Jordan told the doctor that he was her son-in-law while the lady and the girl crying were her children.
'I need to talk with you in my office. Come with me'
The doctor told Jordan. Tara followed suit leaving Shan alone with their mother. At the office, the doctor motioned them to sit down. When they were settled, he cleared his throat.
'Your mother-in-law collaps from acute myocardial infarction', Jordan looked very shocked.
'What is that?', Tara asked.
'Well, myocardial infarction is also refered to heart attack'
'what caused this? She asked in tears.
'Myocardial infarction happens when blood stops flowing properly to parts of the heart and the heart muscles is injured due to not receiving enough oxygen. This is due to the fact that this develops a blockage due to an unstable building of white blood cells'
'when do you think she will regain concious? , Jordan asked.
'To be candid with you, I can't say. We just have to pray for a miracle'
'what are her chances?'
'fifty-fifty'
Jordan thanked the doctor and told him to try his best to see to her recovery as money was not an issue.
'come, let me get you home, you need to eat something'
the three of them walked to the car. Tara quielty directed Jordan to their house.

Jordan was not only shocked, he was angry. How was it that his wife's family live in a room with nothing but mattrass. Tara was too proud to seek help from him. And what about Anthony? Did he knew the living condition of his child's mother?
'Tara, pack whatever you need, we are leaving this place for good'
'no'
'Why?'
'You just can't order me around as if i'm your child. Infact, I don't wanna leave here'
'Suit yourself, Shan, you've missed school today, we need to inform your school on the events of the day'

'Tara, what is she talking about?'
Tara bit her lower lips and remained calmed. She didn't know how to start telling Jordan the genesis of everything.
'Tara, damn you answer me'
'It's a long story and I'm hungry and tired'
'Does your father knows anything about all these?'
Shan burst into tears.
'Tara's father sent mum to jail'
'what is going on here?' Jordan asked.. Shan continued,
'He...'
she left her sentence unfinished when she realised that Tara was glaring at her. Jordan had seen everything but he didn't say a word.
'Shan, can you excuse Tara and I for a few minutes?'
'Okay', She said and walked out of the room.
Jordan looked at Tara. She seemed calmed as she defiantly face him.
'Care to tell me what all these are all about?'
'non of your business'
'Really? You seem to forget that your problems became mine the day you married me'
Tara so much wanted to tell him everything that had happened to them. She felt like crying out her pains to him but she knew they need no one's pity, not even her husband's so she remained mute. This infuriated Jordan. Damn Tara, Damn her stubborn pride.
'Then keep your problems to yourself Tara, as far as I'm concerned, you are on your own. As your husband, I shall continue to provide for you. You may make use of that ATM card I gave you, very soon, an account will be opened in your name'
Jordan stared at her. How could he be furious with her and still want to kiss her?
'Tara, i'm returning to Abuja tomorrow morning, you can stay here and take care of your problems'
He angrily matched out of the room. He found Shan at his car.
'Hop in Shan, we've got to take you to school'
'But the principal said unless I pay my fees, I shouldn't come'
'Don't worry your pretty little head. Where do you school?'
she told him and he drove to Demonstration schools. At the school, he met with the principal and asked her to please take Shan back. The woman hesitated, Shan had missed four weeks of school work.
'Wait, are you Jordan Nicholas?', she asked him.
'Yes'
'Oh my God, Mr Nicholas, your father has always been my son's role model. He wants to be a builder when he grows up. For Mr. Edward's son, I shall do this favour but Shan needs a home tutur to help her meet up with her mates'
'That will not be a problem at all'
The principal told Jordan that a teacher from the school could be paid to be Shan's tutur. Jordan settled all Shan's bill, thanked the principal and went out.
'You will start school tomorrow', He told Shan who flew into his arms.
'Thank you, uncle Jordan'
on their way home, Jordan told Shan he would be returning to Abuja the next day. He calculated her transport and feeding fee for a month and handed it over to her.
'This is for you, but you also have to do something for me'
'what is it uncle Jo?'
'You have to work very hard and catch up with your mates. Can you do this for me?'
'Yes, I can'
'Good girl, now what do you think about we buying some flowers for your mother?'
'Jeez, really?'
'yep'
Hand in hand, Jordan and Shan shopped flowers for Mrs. Annabel. He stopped at the Mr Biggs clore to the hospital and bought lunch for her before they went in to see her mother. While Shan was with her mother, Jordan went into see the doctos. He came back ten minutes later.
'Shan, it's time, let's go home'
Jordan saw her hesitate as if she wanted to say something.
'Is there something you wish to tell me'
'well, uncle Jo, it's Just that, since I will be going to school tomorrow, I want to stay here with mummy till evening'
'okay then, I will pick you up by six'
She flung herself on him for a hug. Jordan felt a special connection between him and Shan. He bid her goodbye and drove away. Just when he thought he was going to start enjoying his honeymoon, his mother-in-law chose that moment to have a heart attack. Things were not working as he hoped. Now his honeymoon was cut short. Jordan concluded that Tara needed a break. She needed to think and acknowledge that he was now part of her life.
Although he never meant to, Jordan found himself driving home to Tara. He parked his car and made to drive away but something told him to go in and see her beautiful face. He alit from the car with mixed feelings. He pushed the door opened and stepped into the room. Jordan found himself staring in disbelief. Pure rage took over him.
'I'm gonna have to kill you!'
He said as he matched into the room with the sole purpose of beating the hell out of someone.

As soon as Jordan left, Tara had cried herself to sleep. She came awake sometime later. Her stomach was roaring. It needed food. She found a pack of cornflakes. There was sugar but no milk. She quickly went out to buy some milk. She returned, sucked the cereal in cold water and hungrily devoured it. No one needed to tell her how angry Jordan was and she began questioning her behaviour towards Jordan.
Despite the fact that they had to marry because of what Jordan did to her, he had been nothing but good and considerate. He even cut short their honeymoon for her and had settled her mother's hospital bills. The least she could do was to thank and appreciate him. She heard footsteps and turned towards the door, expecting Jordan. Tara smiled, she would run to him and tell him everything he seek to know, then beg his pardon for her behaviour these past days. Her smiles died immediately, the intruder was Daniel.
'Daniel, what are you doing here', She asked fearfully.
'To see you my love, don't you miss me?'
'Look Daniel, I'm married. Please forget about me'
'The hell you are Tara. I really thought you are diffent from other ladies but you're not'
'What do you mean by that?'
'you travelled to Abuja, and I heard you are getting married just a few days after you left. You went ahead and married a rich man. You think you are too big to end up with me?'
Daniel's tone scared her but Tara remained calm.
'Daniel, please go'
'No Tara. I shall have you now'
Tara took a step backward. Her body was trembling . She looked round the room for something to defend herself. Daniel made to touch her arm but she quickly stepped away from him.
'Damn you' he barked, 'do you want to tell me your husband doesn't touch you or I'm I less of a man than he?'
two big tears rolled down her cheeks.
'Daniel, if you touch me, Jordan will kill you'
'You won't tell him because if you do, he will send you packing and you will be back to square one. You see, I'm sobber today for you. I don't want to ever forget this moment'
Tara took her chances, she tried to bypass him and run out of the room but he was faster. She found herself in his arms. Daniel covered her face with kisses. He had breath and she fought him back with her strenght. He slapped her, pinned her against the wall and tore her dress at the front. His hands touched her bossom. Tara rise her left leg and hit his groin hard with her knee. Daniel winced, she bypass him but tripped and fall. He recovered and quickly pounced on him.
Jordan appeared at the door. He matched in with so much rage it scared her. Daniel, seeing Jordan and his angry face became frightened. Jordan removed him from Tara's body and pounced on him. He began beating Daniel black and blue .
'Oh dear, you will Kill him and go to jail'
Tara shouted at Jordan in tears. Her voice seemed to have sunk in his brain. He let go of Daniel. Only then did he realised that the man was bleeding. Daniel was almost unable to walk out. She had no doubt that Daniel must have lost a tooth or two. Tara ran into Jordan's arms sobbing hysterically. He pat her hair and held her as she wept.
'I'm so sorry you had to pass through all these'
soon, her tears turned to hiccups. Jordan gave her some water. Ten minutes later, he turned to her.
'Pack whatever you will need. We are leaving'
Tara didn't argue, she packed all she could while Jordan transported them them to the car. When all was done and over with, Tara turned sand said to herself,
'Mr. Anthony, you no longer have anything to hold over me'
Jordan drove away in silence. They stopped at the hospital to pick Shan. Tara bid her mother a good night before leaving. Outside the hospital, Jordan withdrawed some more money with his ATM card. He took them to a small but modest resturant for supper.
Only Shan pertook in the food. Jordan only had a bottle of malt. Tara was unable to eat and Jordan insisted she had a bottle of malt too.
'Jordan where are we staying now?', Tara asked.
'Home of course'
'Home?'
'Tara, have you forgotten we are builders? We built a house here'
'wow, uncle Jo, can't wait to see it'
In the car, they drove quietly, Shan sensed that something was wrong. Jordan halt at a big black gate. He horned and it opened immediately. Two men were responsible for the upkeep of the house. Jordan introduced Tara as his wife. By the time they finally settled down to sleep, Tara felt so very tired. Shan was already fast asleep in her room. Tara, vowed to have a talk with Jordan the next day and tell him how sorry she was for her behaviour lately. She awoke the next morning and found Jordan already gone. Tara locked herself in her room and wept bitterly.
