Aftermath Of NMA Strike: Low Activity In UCH by Nobody: 10:12am On Aug 27, 2014
HEALTH care services were
yet to pick up at the
University College Hospital
(UCH), Ibadan, second day
after doctors’ strike was
called off nationally.

The hospital’s outpatient
clinics were still empty, as
only nurses were seen
attending to patients, who
came to make one enquiry or
the other.

The usual bee of activities
the hospital’s accident and
emergency department was
known for, was also absent.

President, Nigerian
Association of Resident
Doctors, UCH branch, Dr
Franklin Anor, linked the
inactivity in many of the
clinics to many patients not
around to seek health care
services and non-withdrawal
of sack letter the Federal
Government issued the
resident doctors.

He said: “Do you expect
people, who were sacked to
resume to a place they have
been sacked? The circular
yet to be withdrawn.
“The moment it is withdrawn,
resident doctors will be at
their duty posts.”
He said the agreement
doctors had with the Federal
Government was that the
circular indicating resident
doctors’ sack be withdrawn
and this was yet to be
carried out till now.”

“Residency is a training
programme, which if
suspended, will not allow
doctors be at their duty
posts,” he declared.

Dontintin: So what exactly is the delay and what is nma and nard doing about this.

what do you want them to do about it. where they the ones who released a circular suspending residency?

Rather than the circular being withdrawn immediately 2 enable resident doctors resume, they are thinking of how 2 punish the doctors for going on strike. There are indications that the resident doctors are only going 2 resume on fresh terms 2 be determined by the FG.
Residents in JUTH were said 2 be sent away by their COMMAND stating he received circular from FMOH not 2 allow them 2 the hospital
More lives can be lost in this period, who cares!
There is no government here,NONE!

Really pathetic situation. When elephants fight the grass suffers. The poor masses at the ones at the receiving end of all this. Do we really have a government atall?

With the above statement. I guess we Nigerians should be prepared for the mother of all strike in the health sector .
