It is not a bad idea for the clergy to be taxed on their income. It seems even a Christian thing to do.

I have observed dat churches in our generation have turned to buisness ventures, were many clegry's use the income from the church to open buisness's such as schools, water company e.t.c.And this have made many of this pastors super rich in our country.my question now is that should this religious body pay tax?maybe not from the church but from there buisness income....what ur view over this??
your topic is too narrow because you were just focusing on churches.we have mosque, ifa priest e.t.c engaged in one form of business or another .secondly taxing churches amount to double taxation because the tithe being paid has already being taxated . thirdly. the tax revenue from corporate affairs haven't being put into judicious use like what we see in Uk.

Quineta, how about the
charity organizations like
the orphanages? Should
those be taxed as well? If
I’m right, such
organizations are all
lumped with religious
organizations, tax-wise.
How about smaller
organizations that are
struggling to even pay their
bills? These questions
about taxing religious
institutions (especially
churches) is being raise
because of the lifestyle of
pastors of some
megachurches. So, do we
now put the tax burden on
every institution because of
a few?
How about other religions?
Would it be fair the hit
them with taxes because of
the perceived lavish
lifestyles of some Christian
pastors?
I’m not picking sides yet,
I’m only asking these
questions to get your
thoughts.
Yes Jesus supports tax quite all well, the British system that introduced the law had reasons why churches were exempted. even mosques and other charity organisations. it will be sucidal for government to tax just one part of religious body and leave the other free. let's be fair when making judgment
