First i say, congratulations...

now, my advice... it doesnt matter if your brillant or dull during your secondary school days, this is the University... it very different..

as for books, inasmuch as it is imperative to buy books also consider downloading PDF books online , believe me, you will move mountains...

finally, Aim to make 1st class... at worst you will land on a 2.1 .. merry christmas

for starters, you'll be needing ENGINEERING MATHEMATICS by K A STROUD and DEXTER BOOTH. Very important for 100 and 200 level irrespective of the engineering discipline. You need to be serious ooo. Engineering no be joke ooo

Welcome on board......am a 400l civil engineering student and I thnk u will need the following textbooks:

Advanced Engineering Maths(Year 3 to Final Year)...I advise yu borrow ordinary engineering math in yur first nd 2nd year cos it becomes obsolete wen u gt to Year 3..

Structural Analysis
(Can't remeber the author but it has a green cover)

Structural Design Textbook by mosley and burngey+ that of Oyenenuga(get both cos they have different design codes which you can compare when designing)

Strenght Of Materials by chand

Civil engineering materials

Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics by Rajput

Foundation Engineering

Note:Engineering is not hard the way we think but it requires dedication and attention to graduate with a good grade, your first and 2nd year cgpa has a long way in determining your graduating grade so be care ful of those 2 years.......wish you all the best in your choosen career.....neva accumulate lectures b4 u study it kills cos it is not a literature type course that you can pick up your material and read a day to exam...so understnd d formular nd the trick immediately the lecturer leave the lecture room or you forget it ....cheers
