There are indications that the Federal Government's Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme Sure-P may not continue beyond this year according to its chairman, Gen Agwai (rtd).

SURE-P chairman, Gen Martin Luther Agwai (rtd) said poor budgeting for SURE-P activities may make it impossible for the programme to continue beyond this year.

Speaking during an end of year dinner for journalists held in Abuja, he lamented that the entire N102 billion budgeted for SURE-P in 2015 was about N2billion less than what was budgeted for roads and bridges under SURE-P in 2014.

He explained that the entire amount budgeted for the programme in 2015 was just what was allotted to road projects (N104 billion) out of the N268.37 billion budget in 2014 and warned that SURE-P may cease to exist after 2015 if the trend continues.

“This is the danger of relying on oil as a major revenue earner,” he noted.

Agwai further stated that, “SURE-P can’t perform equitably in 2015 and may cease to be after 2015.

We must prepare for the worst case scenario that SURE-P may disappear. If SURE-P’s story isn’t the same next year, that is the reason.”

Earlier, he expressed appreciation to the media for its critical analysis of the SURE-P implementation procedure and processes, noting that this has helped them improve their strategies towards effective and efficient delivery of the SURE-P mandate.

“Through you the media, the scepticism over the establishment of SURE-P and its benefit to the socioeconomic wellbeing of our country and the citizenry has abated. This is evident through the judicious use of all of the 41 per cent share of the funds accrued to the federal government from the partial removal of fuel subsidy on the pump price of petroleum,” he added.

Sure-P is a scam by Jonathan. My brother is a staunch supporter of GEJ because of this Sure-P work he got five months ago. He has not been paid after working for four months. I already told him the job won't be there after the election because the government can't sustain this.

And what's even more annoying is that some people are clamoring for continuity of this rubbish till 2019. I wonder how they cope with their conscience, if they even have one.

Bitter truth!
The zeal and 'radicalism' the government used to pursue the agenda simply shows that it was done purely for selfish interest.

They shall ALL be put to SHAME.
Where is former Information Minister now? Where was his conscience when he was busy promoting scam? Today the wind of destiny has blown him to another 'enclave'. God will surely give us CHANGE no matter where it is coming from because we are due, Nigeria is due.

102 billion naira if prudently managed can have a positive effect on our jobless graduates. When contract sums are crazily inflated, even 102 billion dollars in the hands of SURE-P officials and other kleptomaniacs in positions of authority will still be a drop in an ocean.

What about the amnesty progam? The scam of paying 26,000 militants the sum of N65,000 every month for doing nothing, while the remaining millions of law abiding youth remain jobless and in abject poverty. Will the Amnesty program go beyond 2015?

The Communities are still being exploited, the oil spills are getting worse, the are still no pipe borne water, electricity, roads, schools, etc, even the oil theft is now free for all.

Where will the government get the money to continue paying Kuku and his boys, considering the dwindling oil prices and the advice to tighten our belts by madam world bank.
