A Trip To Enugu From PH By Rail. by ruffhandu: 7:19am On Jan 23, 2015
I got here finally by 6.35am. I saw people sitting around some concrete slabs in front of the station building. The environment had a tint of travel all around.
I expected to see a large crowd at the area where I was shown to be the ticketing area, but I kept seeing passengers loitering around. My heart skipped a beat once more. I thought I had missed it. I stopped to ask an old man quarrelling with a woman, subtly though. He seemed to be a worker, a security man or so, while the woman was obviously a passenger, from her words.
"Because I help you open the gate abi?" She said grudgingly while heading to the ticketing office.
"Good morning sir" I greeted the man. I didn't wait for him to respond before I asked: "tickets are still on sale?"
"Go that side" he said, pointing towards the office.
I relaxed.
At the office, a fat man stood before the ticketing point, I waited behind him.
"First class still available?" I asked the lady.
"Sorry sir" she said with a low tone."we are using the first class to launch today, so, it's only the second class that's available today".
"Whoosh!" I said. Should I have still come? I came to board the first class coach. I was disappointed, but I have come. I paid her N650 and was given the ticket below.

I was disappointed when I got inside. The seats were dusty, very dusty. I wonder why they wouldn't have cleaners who would clean the inside at least after every trip the train undertakes.

A young man had come and said they told him to enter without ticket. We however urged him to go buy one. He later went out and I heard one of the officials angrily decrying what some of the conductors do. They would come in later and collect the money from such passenger and pocket same. Some people and corruption sha.

I now see why the inside of the train was dusty, a lot of dusts whirls around each time the train gathers speed. I don't know if the dust gets inside the first class coach as well.

Later, around 8.26am, a man to check tickets. Four boys trailed behind just him like they were his bodyguards, ready to pounce on any offender. I felt they all wanted to do the checking together for the sake of record reconciliation.

After their round, my ticket changed form.
