I spotted this gem at Newport Beach, SoCal.

A scrumptious model but would rather take the chrome bumpers that stopped in 1973.

A 2002!!

Those mandated bumpers kinda spoil the look though.

but still....

For a 2002?! That design is outdated! Or is there an error with the date. Btw, I really feel American classic car designs are the most beautiful, grande and confident,IMO..just like a 1967 Oldsmobile 442 I saw on American car prospector. Beautiful car.

Mate, what you posted is not a 1967 442 but a common Mexican special. Probably some 80's shyte that can be bought for $700 any day of the week over here. See picture of a real 1967 442 below.

The design of a 1974 through 1976 BMW 2002, is that of a timeless classic. It's not for everyone but any classic lover will respect a BMW 2002. Without the success of the early 1602 BMW was on the way out. The 1602 - 2002 should be respected by all lovers of german vehicles of any brand. If BMW had folded who would have given Mercedes something to compete with?

American classic cars have their own place in history but they're not for me. Not sure what you mean by confidence though.

The "2002" refers to the BMW model, not the year. Just like the BMW 1602 is the 2002's smaller brother.

thanks, I googled that image. however, I saw the ride in an American classic car documentary; American classic cars prospector. maybe when I see classic cars from other continents, I'd appreciate them better, but american classic cars are really gorgeous.

I've posted threads on Datsun, Toyota, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes and BMW before. I just sold a 1969 Triumph GT6 - British.

I'm all about classics.

I followed that thread until you sold it out, at a time her beauty was just being unveiled. I was impressed by her paint job, it was great. I recall you mentioned something about selling to a purist(am not sure), personally, I feel cars like that should be modified, beefed up with mind blowing horsepower readings that triggers other drivers suicidal tendencies, IMO, that's the beauty of driving such modified classics, with modern safety gadgets. may I ask what purists stand to enjoy or benefit from stock restorations?

There are two types of restorers.

1) The purist who will go as far as even getting the proper sticker in the engine bay made for them and will try to source the original carpet underlay material for a 1940's car.

2) The make it more modern so I can drive and enjoy the darn thing. The group where I fall in.

There is a market for factory restores in the show arena. Those cars command the most amount of money, sometimes eye popping. They are just not for me personally.
