Please I need help in uploading my website, can anyone help me with the step-by-step process using ftp? Thanks.

Download an ftp agent like cyberduck or filezilla, I recommend filezilla, just search for it on google and download.

After installing it, launch it, at the header of the software, you will need to enter your domain address as the host, then the field for username and password, supply your cpanel username and Password. You can use port 21, that's optional. Then click on quickconnect, if successful, the directory content of your public folder will be shown to you, locate the file you want to upload from the leftside and drag it to the right, the uploading will be done.

I have uploaded the files using ftp but still can't get the site up.The filezila thing didn't work for me so I had to settle for ftp.The problem I am suspecting is the DNS not being properly configured.Thanks
Your site seem to be under maintenance.

Talk to your host to fix if there is a DNS issue. Or probably domain propagation is not complete, when did you buy the domain and the hosting package?
