What's your take on this
I am thru developing my desktop hospital app,in c#, but for the pricing, I'm confused on how to go about it. Suppose I was in your shoes, how much would you sell a hospital app with the following features

. Patient management
. Doctor management
. Xray management
. Diagnosis
. Drug management
. Issues relating to checkup
. Billing management for patient
. Appointment maintenance
. Payroll
. Email client

How much do you think someone can sell this software and maintain it for an organisation such as a hospital? I'm placing my starting price at 80,000. Pls let's have a say.

See what got me confused. I asked a friend, she be like 250,000 I shock o, then I asked another he be like 180,000, I asked a fellow programmer and he said we sell at 50,000 ba we tell them 80,000 for a start

One thing you have to look at is the hospital size. And staff involved, then try to consider other things.
Now I got lost. Thats why I asked you all here.

From my experience the key to selling this kind of software and making maximum profit is by selling each feature in modules it.

Say for example the Core features (which will be independent modules) are:
-Patient
-Doctor
And they come at 180k. Every other module can now be fixed at say 30 to 50 depending on how important and how much effort you put into coding it. So the client pays for what he need at the moment. But from experience they usually come back to buy the whole package.

And of course you have too bill them for training and your defense will be that buying Microsoft Word from Microsoft does not mean they'll(Microsoft) teach you how to use it.

Then there's the annual maintenance, support and updates (which is also optional). Allow the client to slice his neck with his own hands.

FYI: For packaging/branding purposes such software systems are called Electronic Health Record (EHR). And there are international standards out there that your software should meet up with if you want to sell to the big boys. see www.openehr.org for an open source standards for EHRs
