Buhari could have used his name and influence in the north to campaign for any number of progressive policies - ending child marriage and lowering the rate of fistula occurence; encouraging polio vaccination in order to end the scourge of polio; ending almajiri culture; encourage governors to use their Federal allocations to build schools; encourage family planning thus lowering the poverty rate.

Tackling any one of these issues would lead to improved circumstances in northern Nigeria. That Buhari failed to campaign for even one of them shows he has no understanding of the importance of good policy or he is a coward, afraid to confront those within his own community who insist on holding the majority in a servile and pitiful state.

Instead, General Buhari decided that he would fight two issues publicly:

1. Sharia law

2. Boko Haram ("an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north" )

What did either of these two issues do to improve the lives of those in northern Nigeria?

How does anyone reason that a coward with no sense of priorities and no pedigree when it comes to policy or administration is a good choice as an Executive President?

I hate this whole talk of "everyone knows Idiagbon was the one ruling while Buhari was the 'figurehead' in the 80's." Buhari and Idiagbon were not mates in the military, Buhari was a senior officer to Idiagbon....so where does that lame talk come from? When it's time for you guys to give Buhari credit for something he did in the 80's as head of state, you guys come up with that stuuppid talk but when it's time to accuse Buhari of something negative and wrong, you all claim he was the one in charge. Take it or leave, Buhari seems to have guts. Obasanjo even said "...all these people are just afraid because Buhari is a hard man."
