Absolutely correct.

I will post all the ways through which foreign Nationals can get Work Permit in Canada. That is to enlighten us on available pathways. You will see the options by default when you are applying for work permit. It is your duty to research possibilities under every pathway.

ianian:
Teer 4 and 5 is also allowed till January 30, 2025.

A Temporary Policy, in place from January 30, 2023 for a period of two years, relaxes the employment requirement from “skilled work” to “all skill levels” and also allows working-aged dependent children to obtain a work permit.

Passport Requests are few and far between these days, but it's to the glory of God that I am coming back to say I got a surprise PPR for Spousal Work Permit today. I'm a spouse of a college student who is already schooling in canada, I applied in November 2023.

It's a surprise to me because I wasn't expecting a PPR. I already had a travel visa, and had visited once, so, all I was praying for was a Port of entry Letter of Introduction, not PPR since i already have a visa. Now I am not sure of what to do with this PPR. This goodnews comes with a dose of confusion.

Gurus in the house, please advise me. Am I supposed to submit my passport again for Visa, despite already having a valid visa? Is this normal? Or should I send IRCC a webform/mail about this? If I submit my passport again, hope they won't cancel my existing travel visa....?
Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by folla: 4:03pm On May 10
Congratulations!

Why the confusion? Isn't a visit visa different from a work visa?

A SOWP is a work visa that entitles you to a work permit when you arrive at the POE.

A visit visa merely allows you to enter Canada, but can't work.

Congratulations, the question should be, did you apply for SOWP? if you did then you need to send your passport for stamping, this will allow you work in Canada if you wish. It does not invalidate your existing VV. Congratulations once again
Re: Canada Spouse Open Work Permit (sowp)timeline by Jeboy(m): 2:40am On May 11
Let me post it here.

We can begin to analyze the process to each work permit.

LMIA is when you get an offer for a skilled job in Teer 0-3 either inside Canada or outside.

PGWP is usually applied after graduation from at least an 8 month programme in a DLI and PGWP Institution

Active policy is a temporary provision i.e for lless skilled workers like PSW etc Teer 4 and 5 pathway

LMIA exemption aka Open Work Permit can be for a destitute student, maltreated LMIA worker and others like refugee (I really don't know which other ways people get LMIA exemption aka Open Work Permit).

There is the one via Spouse of Intl students or family member of a worker

Etc. Knowing how you can get this permit can help your strategy.

Good morning everyone.

First time posting on this thread (I think)

My husband is applying for SOWP. I am on PGWP. He wants to book Upfront medical at IOM.

What should he put down as his Migrant Type
1. Family Migrant/Sponsorship
2. Immigrant
3. Skilled Migrant
4. Student
5. Visitor

I know its not 4 or 5, but not sure which is most suitable.

Thank you everyone!

I have a job, teer 1 but my visa is PGWP.
Jeboy:
I am not sure PGWP is skilled oh. Skilled migrant is classified by Teer 0 to 3 .

PGWP is just a grace period for foreign graduants to convert there visa into skilled (Teer 0-3) or unskilled (Teer 4-5) and then apply for PR route.

I think it should be student (no 4). That is why she has to be either PhD/Masters or professional degree graduate to explore this route for her spouse else she will have to get a skilled job offer if she is a college graduate for her spouse to qualify for SOWP.

Same reason you can't use PGWP alone to pursue PR if you haven't gotten an offer or worked as a skilled professional under a Teer 0 to 5 classification.

Then you are a skilled migrant and your spouse can qualify for SOWP based on the skilled job offer. Recall I didn't say you must have an LMIA (closed work permit) visa but a skill job offer is essential.

If you check my previous post here where I quoted the words from IRCC websites, they mentioned about the graduates having PGWP and has an offer for Teer 0 to 3 job stating there roles, payment (hours, annual) and others like NOC code. Someone even mentioned that there is provision for Teer 4 to 5 within a time-frame (till 2025). So the offer is the icing on the cake not just PGWP that if you don't progress with you can lose status in Canada.

So LMIA is not compulsory but the skill job offer is which you can now use to acvumulate work experience to pursue any route wether Federal Express Entry, PNP etc.

If you use up your PGWP in Canada without landing a skill job that sponsors you or enabled you to apply for PR you will have to leave Canada. Reason PGWP comes with duration. It is to enable you establish employment route to PR.

This application is for her spouse, who is coming for SOWP, who I believe is already working in Naija, so that makes him skilled immigrant.

A programme like Pre-degree in Nigeria, the duration varies according to schools that offer it.

Good thing is if you have a visitors visa to Canada, you can leverage on programs like this (if it is a short course and does not require study visa) to convert your visitors visa in Canda to study visa.

Just ensure the programme isnt up to 6 months duration in your visit visa limit. If you are able to complete it in 3-4 months and you pass. You can use it as a pre-requisite to apply for a full-time study.

Is there a way to reach them? Because they're not responding to calls. When my spouse went to their office, they didn't respond. They want people to pay money to the agents outside to reschedule Biometrics that we already paid for. VFS is now corrupt it seems. Please if anyone knows a way around this, I would really appreciate it. This has been on for a week now

Hello everyone, I recently got my study visa, I currently live in the UK with wife and kids.

My plan is to visit Canada and start my course for the first Semester while my wife stays back in the UK for few months to continue her work.

Please is anyone heading to Fanshawe College for September, 2024 intake ? I will like to share a condo apartment to cut cost before bringing family in.

Please signify if your destination is London Ontario.

He must have a valid IESLT result, though.
