Now to those of you that would read this story, please criticize it and me. Don't think i wouldn't take your criticism too well because, all my life i have been criticized and it made me a better person. So if you spot any mistake or something I'm not doing properly, please shove it in my face, but be cool. wink cool

Prologue
Have you ever been a thug, a political thug? I mean carrying arms and disturbing the area for potbellied men dressed in natives? Do you attack their opponents whilst doing a drive by on motor cycles? Steal ballot boxes and harass others who wouldn’t vote for them? And you do all these and more for how much, Ten thousand? Twenty? A million?

No matter the amount… truth is, you are a stain on the surface of the earth and it is because of you that we never get ideal leaders. When someone pays himself into a position of service, there is a 99% certainty that they would use that position to recover their money with interest. And you—the thug—made that possible.

I am not accusing you of all the political wrong doings in the country, but your level in aiding it is the most unreasonable and unprofitable. If you are going to aid a politician at least be professional about it. Rigging had proven to be a sure political winning method.

Do you know that only 10% of ballot box snatchings are successful? And every ballot snatcher run the risk of getting shot or mugged or even burnt. All political thugs out there are youths—leaders of tomorrow.

Do you also know that more than half the politicians out there were political thugs in their youths? And that while you go about jobless-ly doing there dirty works, their own children are chilling in five star hotels in some European country where they get to study high tech courses but in our very own universities students get to live in jam-packed hostels, learn in a five departments in one classroom, get threatened to by textbooks, pay money for assignments, spend extra money for practicals they don’t benefit from and then resort to sorting their g.p to Everest.

And just so you know. As a thug. When you die in the act of thugry, your family members will be too ashamed to come and pick up your body and the guy you died for wouldn’t give a damn win or lose.

No need to drag this on and on, but know this. The country is already wronged so adding to the wrongs will never make it right. –by T.A ORIJ [a fictional politician and thug]

Chapter one
Kc eyed the light skinned girl sitting opposite his table. She was staring at the now empty bottle of malt he had bought for her. They were supposed to be on a date but she wasn’t putting in any effort to make it seem like one. No eye contact, no conversation, she was there to answer all his questions and drink his malt.

It has been over six months since his girlfriend called it quits and he had decided to stay away from relationships until he finished his remaining three years academic circle. Currently he was on his one year industrial training, but six months without a girl could be disastrous for any guy his age. For him, a girlfriend comes in handy quite often.
After his six months frustrating relationship hiatus he pleaded with some of his friends to set up a blind date for him. That blind date was now sitting in front of him making him wish he had remained single.

Ever since the girl arrived, she practically assumed that it was his responsibility to do the talking. He told all the jokes—and got only forced smiles.

He gave up and decided to rudely discharge the girl. “Hey! If you will not talk to me you better lift your flatness and get out of here.”

The girl eyed him now. “Have I not been answering all your questions? What’s your problem?”

“You are my problem. You are so dull and boring.”

“Oh. really? Look who’s calling me boring, how many of your jokes have I laughed at since I came here?” this one hit him like a bullet.

“So now you know how to talk, I don’t know you girl but I am ashamed of your IQ”

The girl hissed. “broke ass nigga, money talks. I agree to go on a date with you and all you can afford to buy for me is a bottle of malt. So if I had brought my friends along this is how you will embarrass us.” She picked her bag and strode out of the bar.

KC starred at the girl in bewilderment as she strode to the main road forcefully shaking whatever flesh she had for rear. She stopped a cyclist, took one last menacing look at him, hissed and then told the cyclist her destination.

KC sat down to call the guy who recommended this date for him. “Hello obere? What kind of naughty girl did you hook me up with?”

“Hello KC my man, you said you wanted a girlfriend. In situations like that anybody can come to mind. Did anything go wrong?” obere replied from the other end of the line.

“Everything went wrong! This girl just gave me the bashing of my life in public. I have never felt so humiliated all my life.”

“Guy free women matter jor, I go handle her later.” Obere switched to pidgin.

“I don’t want trouble just die the case, because of money this girl just dey yarn anyhow.”

“Wetin you expect? Na runs girl na.”

“Did I mention that I wanted a runs girl?”

“Na recommendation me do for you o, by the way. On top money matter, I get sure way to make cool cash by this week o.”

KC sat up. “What is it?”

“Guy why are you so dull? You don forget say na election period? All this politheifcians dey find thugs o.”

KC exhaled deeply, frustrated. “Guy thugry is very dangerous and politicians of these days are tricky.”

“No be anyhow politician o. this guy is an opposition and you know oppositions are very desperate and would do anything to win, including spending huge cash and as enterprising young jobless youths we should be here to capitalize on that.”

KC had to laugh at this guy’s humor. “Ok what’s the plan?”

“Call Chibyke, the both of you should meet me in front of the government house ASAP.”

“Ok” KC hanged up and started dialing Chibyke’s number…

********************

Meanwhile inside room 104 (Afghanistan- as it was aptly named) Embrik lodge. Chibuke stared at his girlfriend Amaka, bewildered at her request which was impossible at the moment.

“Baby that’s not possible at the moment,” He tried to reason with her.

“Why? You already had it somewhere else?” She asked quizzically.

“No! of course not, I wouldn’t do that to you,” he placed his hand on her shoulder assuredly. “I have a huge boil down there.”

She gasped, “Let me take a look.”

He shrugged, “Ok” he unzipped and she brought it out. She gasped again, “that must be painful”

“You have no idea”

They both stared at each other for seconds then she started grinning, that kind of grin she grins whenever she had one of those evil genius ideas.

“What are you thinking?” he asked, hoping it wasn’t a dreadful idea.

“I’m thinking of giving you a head.” Chibyke’s eyes widened.

“With a boil?” he asked quietly.

“Yes, I would like to call it erupting with pain,” she was already handling it.

At this point there was no stopping her so he obliged hoping it would be pleasant.

He didn’t notice his cell phone already had 9 missed calls and counting.

CHAPTER TWO
Kc arrived at the government house in time to see Obere talking a robust girl—that obere… obsessed with tick women. He approached the two and greeted them.

“What took you long? And where is Chibyke?” Obere asked him.

“He isn’t picking his calls so I came alone,” Kc brought out his phone and dialed Chibyke again…one, two, three rings. No answer.

Obere discharged the girl he was talking to after collecting her number, “next time be early.”

“I thought you said the man was an opposition, why are we meeting him at the government house?” Kc said looking at Obere suspiciously; he usually didn’t trust the small guy. Even with Obere’s small statue he still was a rough and bad fellow, a well-known cultist at school who would go to extreme length to cause trouble. He had met the guy through his roommate and friend Chibyke, Chibyke was usually an easy going fellow and could make friends with any one. Obere had been exploiting Chibyke before his heart was melted by the guys easy going nature, he later tried on many failed occasions to get them both to belong to his fraternity, after each failed attempt he would alienate himself from them and conspire with other cultists to terrorize them for a while.

No matter how many times he tried, they would never belong and when they asked him why he wanted them to join that badly his response was that Kc was tall and Chibyke had an innocent face which could be used as a courier.

“I said you should meet me at the government house not that we were going to meet the man there,” Obere eyed Kc.
“Ok then, where are we going to meet him?”

“That’s his party’s office over there,” Obere pointed opposite the government house at a three storied house with a huge rooster painted on the top floor.

“So do you have an appointment with this man?”

Obere shook his head and scratched his chin, “but I’m about to get one now. Follow me,” he said and strode across the road towards the building with Kc following him closely.

**********************

Chief Williams Kanu sat in his office and was going through some documents for the second time; he wasn’t pleased with the results. This was an election he couldn’t afford to loss. Too many atrocities had been committed for him to come out a loser, too many lives taken to protect his secrets. His campaign promises was falling on deaf ears and he needed something to turn the people against his opponent. For months he had tried everything legal…but nothing worked. The ruling party seems to be able to buy the peoples heart with material things—food they would only get to eat before the election, and then after the election it’s back to square one: no campaign promises fulfilled.

That is why he had to win the election, to transform his state into something admirable. Out of desperation he had struck deals with dangerous men in the state who only had their personal interests at heart. Now he owed dangerous people serious promises, but that wouldn’t a problem if he won.

His campaign strategies have been good, thanks to the brilliant youths he had choose to work with which sealed his position in the heart of the youths. He thought he had it all until the recent polls, people were still loyal to the ruling party and he needed to change that quickly before the fast approaching elections.

Only last night had he thought of a good plan and after sharing it with his campaign manager who was skeptical at first but later agreed to it, he was set to put it to motion today. He was thinking of how to before he decided to take a walk around his office building.

*********************

Uche Edward, the campaign manager for the governorship candidate of the opposition party saw two young men enter the building. One was tall, handsome with a neat afro buzz haircut. The other was short, just there with a rough galas haircut. They were both dark in complexion.

They didn’t look like cops but they sure as hell looked like thugs and he was about to show them the way out of the building. He started towards them with a fierce look in his eyes, studying their reaction. The tall guy seemed slightly intimidated while the short guy looked poised.

Kc’s heart flew out when the intimidating man started approaching them as if he was about to shove an arrest warrant in their face and bundle them to the JTF for plotting the assassination of the president, but when he reached them, he calmly said, “Young men you are in the wrong building, so please walk away before I walk you out.”

Kc was about to turn around and head for the door when he heard Obere laugh.

“Chairman Calm down,” Obere was saying, “We are not enemies, we are here in favour of the governorship candidate. You know to lend assistance anyway we can”

The man raised a brow, “and you are?”

“Meet my friend Kc,” Obere always had the uncanny habit of introducing his companion first, “and I’m Obere.” He extended his hand for a hand shake while Kc watched the small man. Puzzled.

The man ignored the hand, “Obere? Is that the name your mother gave you?”

“Emm, actually my mother named me…”

“I don’t want to hear it, now the both of you leave here before I call security.” The man cut him short before he could say his real name which Kc really wanted to hear.

Obere laughed, “you see chairman we didn’t come here to see you, so you don’t have the right to chase us out.”

“Really?” the man fumbled with his pocket and brought a cell phone, after eying the duo he dialed a number… “Hello security, we have a situation down here. Two thugs are trying to disrupt our campaign process…” “Come down now and arrest them.”

Kc tucked his sweaty hands in his trouser pockets to hide his tension, he turned to Obere, “Guy I think it is better we leave.”

“We are not going anywhere until we see the candidate,” Obere folded his arms.

The man eyed Obere, “you are acting though abi? We will see how though you are when the security men arrive.”

Obere knew that he was pushing it too far but he was here to try his luck. So he wasn’t going to back down until the last minute. Three hefty men busted out from a corner room and started charging towards them… ‘Here comes the final minute’ Obere thought. Kc was already striding towards the exist and he was about to follow when he heard a deep voice say, “what’s going on here?”

Obere scanned the hall to see who it was, he saw a well-built man standing across the hall, it was him. The man they came here looking for.

As the man walked towards them, his carton colour senator hung onto his body, revealing a good finite shape that suggests that he works out. The man stood tall with broad shoulders, square face, thick nose, mouth, and piercing eyes. Surprisingly, unlike other politicians he had no pot belly, his abdomen was as that of a sportsman.

“Uche. What is happening here?” He asked the man that was harassing them earlier.

“Sir nothing to worry about here, these are just jobless political thugs sent by your opponent, but our security personnel are already here to handle them the way thugs are handled.” Uche replied him.

The man turned towards Obere and Kc, “thugs?”

It took Obere quite some seconds to register… “ No sir, no no actually we came here to meet you but uche wouldn’t let us, he even called security for us.” Obere called Uche’s name as if they had met before.

The man turned to Uche and feigned surprise, “Uche why would you do such a thing? How will I tackle the youth problems of this state when I become governor if they are not allowed to come close to me?”

Obere smirked and Kc started feeling more relaxed.

Uche’s jaw dropped, “but sir these could be thugs sent by your opponent to cause commotion here for us.”

“Uche I’ve been alive quite long enough to know a political thug when I see one, burning properties, pipeline vandalism, drive-bys, ballot snatching and all that. But entering an office building to cause trouble? That would be way too stupid and perhaps if these were thugs they would have started their problems by now.”

“But sir they refused to leave when I asked them to, now that’s looking for trouble,” Uche was fuming.

The man placed his hand on Uche’s shoulder, “they said they came to see me, take them to my office then after that put the word out there that my office is open to every youth of the state who wants to have a meeting with me.”

“But sir…”

“Uche. No questions.”

“Yes sir,” Uche stared at the duo with a pained expression, “follow me,” he said coldly.

Obere and Kc thanked the man and followed Uche before he disappeared.
